Male, early 30s, healthy, no MS. Back in June, my feet and rear thighs had pins and needles, only when sitting, on and off for a cpl of days. FOr a cpl days in late July, my right thigh by the knee in a spot the size of a nickel tingled a few times for about 2 seconds each. In August for a day and a half my right heel tingled ONLY when I rubbed by left shin (this is the absolute strangest physical thing ever to happen to me).  They have not returned, and each instance of tingling last 1-2 seconds. Now the seperate pins and needles feeling I had in June was more worrisome as in lingered for a bit and appeared when I put pressure on my thighs. I dont know what this all points to, but no weakness accompanied any of these situations.

I have a lot of tingling, most everywhere, most of the time. I do, however, get a week or two free of it from time to time. My most common is right sided. Can be anywhere. My face bothers me the most because I had Bell's Palsey several years ago and I am always freaked out that it will happen again. The answer my neuro gave me is migraine variant or silent migraine. Whatever. It is what it is. Bothersome, but not life threatening I guess.

Tingling...  My chin used to tingle for a few minutes at a time.  Then it turned into several hours at a time.  Then it was all day, every day... and then the vertigo started.  For a few minutes at a time.  Then it turned into several hours at a time...  You get the idea!

Every single symptom I've had has started out as a trickle, then turned into a flood.  It's gotten to where I appreciate the warning, because I know it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Tingling always seems to correlate with nerve areas.  My chin is ennervated by the trigeminal nerve, so must have been something going on with that.  I get tingling across my back at the bra line, so I think I must have a lesion in the spine in that area.  I also get a tingly butt!  I'm not sure what's going on there, because the spinal cord stops before it gets to those nerves.

Hello,

I am not dx. yet but I have tingling symptoms..I suffer from migraines and a typical migraine for me is more numbness on the left side of face which is a sign a migraine is coming on...i pretty much get my migraines on my left, however, recently I had been having numbness on my left side started in arm (drove me nuts like my arm was asleep..then I got the tingling like pins and needles and then down into leg all on left side...This has been since August..I had MRI in June showing 20 lesions.. And this numbness and tingling which kind of turned into zaps and shocks DID not coincide with my migraines.... I have basically been having issues with my left side ever since. I feel weaker on my left side..I also tend to get shaky hands , as I said left side that come and go...more so when I am holding something like a cup of coffee for example...It sometimes went to my right but was always more definite on left.. Can (if it is a relapse) a relapse last that long...They have seemed to slow down now..

This kind of symptom certainly can be seen in MS.  As you describe it - a tiny area tingling briefly twice a day but recurring over a number of days - barely does meet the criteria of a relapse.  But, we know that relapses can be very mild.  My guess is that an MS Neuro would not put a great deal of weight to this if there are not other things to make MS more likely like a brainful of lesions.

All of my tingling areas are much larger like all of my right foot or the front of my left thigh.  I did just go through a day where the right side of my face felt like it had been burned and was exquisitely tender to the touch.  The worst part was a patch in front of my ear about the size of a quarter.

Well, I have to ditto just about everything Laurel said.  No dx, tingling in smaller areas for brief periods, and sometimes more obviously from restricted circulation, which is easily corrected by moving to alleviate the restriction.

Hi!

I, too, have wondered about this.  Wondered what is typical for MS vs. some other cause.  But I think Wobbly is right in that it totally varies from person to person.

I am not diagnosed, but do have brain lesions.  I personally have tingling in small areas, maybe a patch the size of a dime or nickel, sometimes for a minute at a time, several times a day, for a few days, and then it's gone.  But usually the same spots recur.  I have never had an area tingle for more than a few minutes at a time.  The latest thing I have is a similar transient sensation, but instead of tingling, it's a warm/hot patch, not painful, that just comes and goes.

I also have times where it feels more like the circulation to my entire hand gets cut off, it's a different sort of tingling, and it goes away if I do something to restore circulation.

I have no idea if these are typical or not, since I am not diagnosed.  So, sorry if that's not very helpful.

Laurel
