Turn the clock to zero... a new week and a new year!

I'm a huge Sting fan and I have that ear worm 'Brand New Day" going on in my brain. It fits because we have begun a new year and this is our first 'it's Monday, what's going on this week?' for the year 2013.

As is our custom, we try to do one of these threads every week where you can tell us about any coming events - this can be medical but it is also interesting to read what others have going on in our regular lives.

I was supposed to have my Tysabri infusion tomorrow (Tuesday) but there is some confusion between the Clinic and the Pharmacy and it hasn't shpped yet so that isn't going to happen unless some minor delivery miracle happens.  Thursday I have registerd for a day-long seminar at work on grant writing , a topic I am very much interested in.

That's my week - what's going on with you as we turn the clock to zero and start this brand ne year?

Lulu - It has been forever! I went to contract on the apartment on August 27, closed on December 4. I'm hoping to move in mid February.

I listed me old apartment in December 2011. We closed on the sale October 3, 2012. I've been living with my GF since then.

The bottom line is that it has been over a years since I've had the luxury of leaving my bed unmade and dishes in the sink :-)

I'm starting off the new year with a bad cold (the flu perhaps).  Next week I have single fiber EMG testing to test for myasthenia gravis.  The following week I have a referral to a MS specialist to see if she thinks I have MS.  Not thinking too much about either, just going to relax and go with the flow this year.

Nothing medical this week but super busy with other stuff as we are in h process of moving.  My husband's been transferred to Calgary and we are really happy.  After 15 years up north we are so ready to get back to urban living.  Hard to believe we've stayed this long; till we came here I'd never lived anywhere more than four or five years in a row.  Moving from a small city pop. 70,000 (with a shadow population of about 20,000) to a large city of about 1.1 million is very exciting!  Heading down next week for house hunting, and busy lining up viewings, getting appraisals, inspections, etc set up.

Will mean changing doctors. I like all my docs but am not particularly attached to any of them.  There's a great MS clinic at U of Calgary which I will be referred to for a new neuro.  No more 5 hour drives to see a neuro, which will be a very welcome change!

I need you peoplke with the remodeling skills to show up on my doorstep - I've got lots that needs to be done.

Sarah - that two weeks of R&R quilting sounds good to me.  PD - I hear you about starting at zero on 1/1- painful to start another year of building my deductibles.

Deb - I hope your body settles soon with the gilenya - sounds pretty horrible.

Kyle  - it  seems like forever since you mentioned the move - I hope it happens soon for you.

I am still suffering bad abdominal pains since starting Gilenya 3 weeks ago. My neuro PA suggested that I switch to taking the pill every other day instead of daily for a week. It has been only 5 days now. I feel much better on the days I don't take the pill but still in pain the days I do take the pill. Doesn't seem like rocket science to me, I'm thinking these pills don't agree with my system. Just to be sure that it might be something else I made an appt. with my PCP tomorrow. Luckily it will be a day off of the Gilenya. I will the touch base with the neuro after that.

Wishing you all a great week!

We'll pray for that miracle on your behalf, Lu.

Back to work here, after what now seems like ages of short weeks and holidays.  I suspect that memory will seem like a much shorter era before Friday.

Lost track of time somewhat during the last two weeks, so my neuro's ordered uninalysis will cost me, with insurance deductibles & out-of-pockets resetting on 1/1.  Betcha most everybody's has.  Anyway, I told his medical secretary that I'd like to sit down and go over everything with him, to try to get a handle on where we are and where we might be going in the dx process.  We'll hope to see when that might happen.

I think the grandkids are all back under the roofs chosen for them.  The one who spends weekdays with us is in bed with... the flu (or a good mimic), but his eating habits may be partly at fault.

Getting some help from one church family on the remodeling, after announcing from the pulpit yesterday that our ceiling tile was on sale.

Yesterday included more exploration in our crawlspace at home; there's some real issues in there, yet to be addressed.  Wondering if it would help my sense of balance to have level floors in the house.

Saturday I went out and rode Clara. I bought her a comfy saddle pad for Xmas and she loved it and the peppermint candy. I am feeling weak but pushing through it.

Today is my monthly Reiki. I hope to paint and work Mr. Grady dog. Polly got a new coat like a miniature horse blanket and is very happy.

Life is good. Its a new year with each day a new beginning.

Be well Alex
