Uncontrolled behavior

I am so embarrassed in posting this, but I felt like yesterday was a nightmare. I knew it was going to be bad when I woke up in a sweat. I simply did not feel "right" and driving to work was a challenge because I was so distracted and I had that swimming, buzzing, helium-filled head feeling going on. At work I basically blurted out anything I thought and more. I was loud and obnoxious and it was like I had no control over it. When I finally got myself to my desk I had to fight to try to stay on task and it started to wear me out mentally and physically to get any work done. I muddled through the day as things didn't get worse, but tingling in my face and feet kind of came and went. Again it was difficult driving home. Once I was able to relax at home I slowly started to feel myself again and by 8pm I was falling asleep. I was completely worn out. Please someone tell me that this is a normal behavior with MS! It's not the first time for certain that this has happened, but probably the worse episode of it.
I do have my second MRI on Tuesday that may or may not give a diagnosis. I feel kind of like it's all a matter of putting a jigsaw puzzle together.
Wishing everyone a great weekend!
Linda

I haven't been diagnosed with MS yet, but for the past month or so, I've felt that little sounds, loud sounds, or sometimes just people talking in general causes this intense annoyed and angered sense in me.... so much that i've had to leave gatherings or go somewhere quiet because the slightly sound bothered me so much that i've lashed out at everything and everyone ......

hang in there..... and, don't feel embarrassed .... more likely than not, this was NOT your fault.....

Hi Linda

Bob and Lulu have hopefully given you some reassurance that MS can be responsible for unexplained out of character behaviours. However I sense that you are probably still feeling a bit confused and possibly embarrassed when you thought about it. It felt like you were replaying a DVD and watching yourself play a part you didn't recognise.

Well at least you are able to recognise that this is not the way you normally behave, you have been brave enough to share this and put it on the forum and there is no need to worry. It sounds as if you got through the day at work and your exhaustion when you got home shows that you must have really put in all your energy to keeping on task so well done. Don't beat yourself up as it is a new week ahead and hopefully you have had a restful weekend and next week will be better. MS is truly a MiSserable unpredictable
beastly condition and we all have times when we wish we could just shed its dark and ugly cloak...you are not alone.

Take care, with love

Hi Linda,
So if I gather correctly from your comments - you felt like the filters were turned off in your brain?  Yes, this can happen from MS - look into pseudobulbar effect as well.  That is the unprovoked crying and laughing known to affect some people with MS.

In addition to blaming this MiSerable disease, I would also like to propose another possible cause.  There is tremendous stress living with an undiagnosed/diagnosed disease.  Stress like this can manifest itself in many ways, including inappropriate emotional responses.

Regardless of the cause, be sure to discuss this symptom with your doctor(s).  There  are treatment options for both scenarios.

be well, Lulu

Try Googling "Involuntary emotional expression disorder" (IEED.) It is one of those MS symptoms that can be frustrating and "cringe-worthy" for the MSer. IEED shows up as outbursts of crying or laughter, but without corresponding emotions behind these outbursts.  There are several cognitive/emotional issues like this that MS can cause.
