Update and sad news

We had to put our very much loved, 17 year old gray tabby cat to sleep yesterday.  He had cancer and had gone downhill very quickly over the last week.  The weekend was bad for him but I was able to make him more comfortable with some pain medicine.  We tried to get our vet to come to the house, but it wasn't an option until after working hours, and by Monday morning, he was doing very poorly.  While we were in the waiting room he started to have very labored breathing and I burst into tears again.  The receptionist got us into a room right away and interrupted the vet with another pt and she came to put him to sleep.  At that point he probably didn't have much time left anyway, but he was clearly in pain.  My husband and I were both with him through the whole thing, which I am greatful for.  The kids also had a chance to say final goodbyes.  We miss him a lot.

I'm still struggling with much worse TN and occipital neuralgia pain, and a new nerve pain going down the inside of my left arm.  Plus my jaw muscles (also controlled by CN V) on the left side are very tight and I can hardly open my mouth.  My neuro has me taking 300 mg of lyrica + 900 mg of gabapentin a day and it's not controlling the pain.  I'm really worried about taking too much of these.  :(

I am so sorry for this loss of a loved member of your family and heartmate.  I will be going through this in the near future with my 15 y o Abby.

Do not worry about the doses of meds.  You are on 1/4 of the max daily dose of Gabapentin.

I hope both pains will sttle soon.

Im sorry that your cat was ill. But I have to say I hope it helps your heart to know he is no longer in pain! You have my sympthy and my condolences.

Im sorry your going through that with your health. Perhaps you could talk to your doctor about the medicine and that you are worried it is too much? Perhaps you could look into a pain management clinic. They can help you with meditation and other ways other than medicine to help with your pain.

*very gentle hugs*
