My first appointment with the MS Specialist is next Thursday........has any of your MS specialists said what is a recommended level of Vitamin D and B12?

My first Vitamin D test I had my levels were at 24..........My B12 was 400 something.

I am not certain about vitamin B12...... My nuerologist recomends that I take 5,000 milograms of vitamin D-3 everyday.

I hope this helps. Take care,

Vit D should be high 30s are better and a B12 of 400 is good.. Depends on your Dr some Drs like to see B12 levels higher. I take 1000 IUs a day of Vit D and I get a monthly injection with B12..

Hope this helps you?

Not sure about D but from what I have read online that while many labs say that 200 is considered normal, many experience neurological symptoms if they are not above 450.  You and are are both borderline (I am 420).  I guess many places in Europe expect levels to be higher than 500..  Who knows, but taking more (injections would be the quickest way) would be best. Also, if you have ever been tested for your levels in the past 5 years or so, it would be interesting to compare!  Good luck!

Definitely go off your dr's suggestion. However, be careful with the Vitamin D. You don't want to take too much, if you do take supplements. It will build up and your body will not release the extra it does not need. I hear that could lead to kidney stones. Your body will get rid of what B12 you don't need, so that is a non-issue. I am taking 2000iu of D3 and 1000mcg of B12 daily based on my doctor recommend and my levels.

Good luck with your appointment coming up!
