WAHT CAUSES IT?

This may sound like a "goofy" question but, what exactly causes "us" to hate the heat so darn much? Or better yet, what exactly is going on in our bodies?----I, like so many, hate the heat and usually am "toast" after a shower or whatever. In fact I like to keep it cold in the house, I keep the"heat" at 55-60 (I live in the snow kissed state of NY) and only turn the heat up if my grandbaby is over.  And my other "issue" is EVERY time I'm on the computer, my right hand goes totally cold (just my right)--it is'nt numb but just like I stuck it in ice for hours/hours.  So irratating! As I'm on the computer constantly, either for work or personal.   So, anyhoot, I hope some of you guys could give an idea of what is up with all this.     Thanks

Please read the Health Page, but in short, snerves that have damamged myelin conduct their impulses more slowly.  Heat delays the signal even further and may actually BLOCK the signal completely.  It doesn't take a lot of heat.  If the body's core temp rises even just a bit, a fraction of a degree, you see the problem.

Hi Spitfire,

I know, being heat intolerant is the pits.  Like Terry says, there is a great description in the health pages.

I basically explain like this.  When your core temp gets too warm it causes the damaged nerves to kinda like short out?  I often tell my family that I need rewiring..haha

Quix says she's gonna knit herself a new nervous system!!!!

Do read the health page though, it is much more accurate and informative than my little explanation.

As far as the numbness and cold in your hand, I don't know the answer to that one.  I'm sure that does get aggravating.  I get the numb in my hands, mostly in my little and ring fingers of both hands, feels really weird.

In the top right corner of the page you will see an icon for health pages.  Click and go to page two.  There you will find and article, Heat and MS.
