WHY do you use using walking aid/wheelchair? question for those dx'ed or in limbo

As a follow up to Sumana's poll, if you do use cane, crutches, walking stick, scooter and/or wheelchair, etc. for what reason?  If more than one answer applies, select the primary reason and any other details in a post.  I asked this quite a while ago but we have lots of new people here since then.

I use a power chair.  Main reason is paralysis on my right side. It does work at all.  But, I also have weakness in legs that's getting worse by the day. I do have balance issues but, mainly in the morning and at night.  I have foot drop on right foot that will never be right again along with numbness in right foot and right hand.  But, with all of that said my main reason is I can't walk due to my right side and weakness.

My list of problems seems nonending but, I continue to fight and stay positive.

This was a very good post just to see who using what and why.  I found it to be very helpful in my situation.  Thanks

Take care everyone......   Keep moving on..

I use my walking aids for a variety of reasons:  balance issues, numbness on the left side, CRPS in my right leg/foot, as well as vertigo, and fatigue.  One or all of them may be acting up at any given moment- so I have forearm crutches (for most of the time), a wheeled walker, and a wheelchair (but I only need the wheelchair with profound numbness or if there is a long distance to be traversed).  A couple of years ago, a cane was all I needed...

I checked spasticity because that is ihe main problem, but I also suffer from weakness, fatigue and compromised balance.

Balance for me number 1, but close second is fatigue.

I checked poor balance/coodination, but also left leg weakness and fatigue are part of the reason.

Many times it has less to do with balance and more to do with vision and "finding" the edge of steps or the curb.
