What are you doing this week - August 23?

It is time for our weekly roundup of coming events - feel free to share whatever you wish that is going on this week.  I wish I had something fun to report, but it looks like work x 5days this week is the best I have to offer.

How about you?

be well, Lulu

Not a verry good week.

Feeling like I'm waiting for the "other shoe to drop."  I just hope it's not a brass coated  12 EEE and that it dosen't drop on my head!

Wow, Hump Day already, and I'm just now posting...

I had a SSEP Monday.  Remember in the movie "The Princess Bride" when Wesley was tortured and flopped around without any strength for a while?  Well, I felt that way to a lesser degree for about 2 hours after my test.  I'll know the results soon enough.  At least the tech was cool...

Tysabri today (Yippee!).  Yoga tomorrow.

Got the Peninsula Fingerstyle gang coming over Sunday.  We play tunes we're working on, not necessarily polished, and give each other advise for technique, getting through difficult passages.  We've become better guitarists for it.  It's also a good excuse to drink wine, eat hors d'ouvres, etc...

And I have to add, WOW, I guess the censor on here has no clue that "bollocks" is rude as it didn't cut that! Must be an American censor thingo....I shall remember that when cursing is required in the future.

well I was offline for nearly two weeks as we moved house (AGAIN!! 4th time this year), luckily only next door and this time permanently, but the stupid phone company couldn't cope with a move so small and.....well, I'm back now.

Started relapse number 3  (or is it 4?) for this year last Saturday. Yipee. Saw neuro this morning. He wanted me to go to hospital and sit around getting intravenous steroids, but no-can-do sir, I have a child at home etc, and as all other family are currently in their own homes with the flu no one to care for child if I go. So, he said, let's have another MRI and see if there's changes since  the last one.

So me and the lad are hanging at home all week (he has "carer" status at school so can do his work at home when I am not so good).  I have an poointment with my MS nurse to discuss the pros and cons of the DMDs which i have yet to start (and am so chicken I expect in 12 months I will still not have started them). I also have an appointment with my GP / PCP because he has the fun task of filling in forms for the government so I can get a Disability Pension.

Bar that I am trying to refrain from flirting with this guy who is a friend of my brother-in-law. He fancied me back in the 80s when we  were in a band together, but I was married so ignored him. Now we are both single..........hmmm!  Though I am not sure if an old bat who sways like a drunk is as sexy as a blonde aussie chick from last millenium....oh well. He's getting old as well....

Oh, and locally, I have been glued to the news tv stations here with our "hung parliament". (No winner in the federal election). I live only 5km (3 miles) from Parliament House - in fact I can gesticulate wildly (and rudely  if I wish to) from my back proch and I expect they can see me.

Also there are counter-terrorism exercises in our street this week, which is a pain in the bollocks (if one has them, I am a girl so I dont)  because traffic is being diverted. And crazy SWAT blokes are running around. Such is life.

How could I have forgotten?  Tim starts 8th grade tomorrow.  Went to open house tonight, met all the teachers.  Nancy knows them all; she scheduled their interviews when they were hired, and keeps track of which ones' certification needs to be renewed each year.  Knows when each is eligible to retire, too.

Power transfer went pretty well.  The more senior guy on the crew complimented my work; said it looked like this wasn't the first time I'd done an installation like this.  It is, but I've been exposed to about every possible way to do it wrong, and a thousand or more examples of how to do it right.  New laundry circuit has made it through two loads of clothes so far, without anything tripping the breaker that feeds the air conditioner.  That was just getting so annoying.  Air conditioner's not on the same circuit as the microwave anymore, either.  Rest of the house will all be rewired, top to bottom, in months ahead, but this service upgrade/relocation was the biggest single sub-project, and I am thrilled to have it finished.

Have to thank God.  Six months ago, I couldn't have dreamed of doing this much work of this kind, especially the high-up-on-a-ladder parts.

Gypcwmn, have a safe and blessed trip.

Gotta turn in.  Shalom.

How creul Ren.  C-Diff followed by a colonoscopy prep.  It just doesn't seem right.  Interesting FYI (or maybe not).  My dog has the canine equivolent of what you had.  It's called Clostridium Perfringens Enterotoxicosis.  She's on a three month course of antibiotics to hopefully wipe it out.

Michelle, your son is NOT going to high school.  That just can't be.  You tell him he has to wait at least one more year.  And just when I thought you might be catching a baseball break.......along comes....... football?  Yeah, girls are good.

Just another fun-filled week...

Waiting impatiently for my neuro to call me back.  I called last Thursday afternoon. His NP called first thing said on Friday , while he was out of town, that I was definitely in a relapse and I needed to go to an ER.
ER ..ummmm NO!

Tomorrow is the wonderful day of prep for a colonoscopy on Thursday. GI guy was concerned after the C. diff episode so Thursday I will at least be getting some good drugs.

Friday......?????????

My son (5) is finally adjusting to Kindergaden.

We began the school year August 5th.  My MPOS (Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers) group starts up this Thursday.  I am on the planning team this year.  It is just a little extra responsibility, but worth it!

This past weekend I took the poys fishing on the pier at the cabin.  We caught 7 fish in 2 hours.  With the heat, the two hours were in two seperate visits to the pier.  It was nice just to be able to spend some fun time with them outside!

aha!  i've just discovered this post...and it is a wonderful thing.  a real good catch up.

this week, i'm trying to make lists of what i will need in the way of back to school for my kiddies.  my oldest is entering SK for 5 half days a week (senior kindergarten) and my youngest goes to a preschool two mornings a week, while i am at work.
as i am not so up to shopping these days, the lists seem like they will help out next week when it is crunch time!

lots of time in the park near our house letting the kids run off their energy and play in the wading pools...work wednesday & friday mornings and not too much more beyond that to report!

I sat here at 3:30am and read all of you guys' plans.  This thread in particular makes me feel really close to everyone.  there is so much more to us than just MS.

I have nothing to do this week except those necessary activities of maintaining a household.  Last saturday was our reception for my parents' 64th Anniversary and the Open House for all of our construction that the neighbors have been curious about.  IO gave about 10 tours of the house (WEARING my boot!), but it was far too much walking and I am paying the price of new pain in my ankle.

So, back into the recliner for more boredom and statuarial competition.

It's been a pretty exciting week around here. My daughter of 5 is starting school today, and my wife and I are taking the day off, to go with her, and catch some pictures of her coming off of the bus. She also lost her first tooth, which she lost at the swimming pool, ugh, but she has another one loose, so hopefully we'll be able to keep that one, lol. I am frightened and excited for her as she is starting a new adventure. She is a social butterfly, and not to spoiled :-), so I think she is going to love it.

I saw a Urologist and found that everything on the inside is fine, and that he believes it is neurological in nature, which I already have known, but it was good to hear that the old prostrate was in good shape. During the exam however, I was curious if someone had called ahead and told him that I had gold up there, because he was at it like a professional miner, lol. He was actually in there so hard that I started to pee, he laughed and said not to worry about it, "Now you've had a prostate exam".

I started a new med, to help me pee, and I have to say it was working well, until it felt as if a mule kicked my in my kidney. I immediately went off the med, and called the doc. Looks like I'm going to start Flomax today instead. Anything that helps I guess is better.

I know this is more than you bargained for, but if you managed to get through all of this, thanks for reading, I hope you all have a great week.

Unpacking and laundry and back to work.  Just arrived home from a wonderful few days in gorgeous Vancouver, I didn't want to leave!  Had a great time seeing people; brunch with my mom who looked fantastic six months after double bypass surgery; dinner with one of my best girlfriends in high school who I hadn't seen in 15 years; plus lots of other great meals and evenings with friends; showing my husband around the city as it was his first trip there; gorgeous weather; and to top it off we got to see Jerry Seinfeld doing his stand up routine, he was very very funny and on his game.  And now, back to reality.  Off to the doc for some meds, back to exercise after the eating and the cocktails, and busy week ahead at the office.

Dennis, I hope that new restaurant is a good one.  Hearty German fare is so delicious,  I love it too.

I have an eye appointment in the morning.  Then if I am not blind by being dilated I have to get a copy of my swallow study and speech therapy report for my doctor.

Friday I have a son turning 12!  Time goes by way too quickly.  :(  We will have his party on Sunday.

I have to go birthday shopping! He gets so excited about his birthday.  His name is Joshua.

His birth-mother used drugs and alcohol while she was pregnant with him.  He was born with Down syndrome and addicted to crack.  He was recently diagnosed with Autism.

I get a real kick out of how he gets so excited about his birthday.  He always wants pizza and cake. :-)

Let's see, apparently I've lost my mind this week LOL My older two are in middle school and today was an ice cream social for the kids to get their schedules and parents to get the school calendar, etc. So, I had a whole day planned: take DH to work, take the kids to the middle school after lunch, go visit the elementary school so my 5 & 3 year olds could see their classrooms (kindergarten & pre-k). Then we get DH from work, have a picnic dinner and take the kids to the discount movie theater, which is 75 cent tickets on Monday.

Turns out the ice cream social was after dinner not lunch. Luckily I called before we left! So, today was a bit of a waste of gas...made worse by my 3-year-old yelling "I"M GOING TO THROW UP!!!" 5 minutes into a 40 minute drive back home. (Luckily he did not throw up this time!)

I also talked to Shared Solutions today, and my SS nurse. The autoinject & info are on the way. The online pharmacy has my info and I should hear from them by the end of this week. I'm to call the nurse back once I have the autoinject & the meds.

School work is caught up, I can't do anything more until I get my latest test back (I'm praying I did well on it!) I should get that Wednesday or so. I have nothing else to do until Friday when we are finishing up school supply shopping.

I'm just keeping my head down and trying to enjoy the last 2 weeks of summer vacation. I'll have 4 of the monkeys in full day school, one in afternoon pre-K, and only the baby home all day! I'm not going to know what to do with myself!

I'm no gambler, Audrey, but if you win, I could be persuaded to virtually supervise all the repairs on your house.  Never mind; I could probably be persuaded to relocate the family to any better climate in which you'd want to build your new house.

Passed inspection with flying colors; power company expected here early tomorrow morning.  Should be fun.

Thanks, all.

I'm so happy to report that I have absolutely no medical appointments this week.  I need to work on my calendar as far as making sure I have all appoinment set up on my phone etc.  I have tons of paperwork that I need to complete before my sleep study.  So for me I am going to rest and do some writing.

good thoughts and prayers to all of you

I forgot to add that I bought a few tickets for the $100 million plus jackpot in Mega Millions. I have constructions issues with my home on top of not being able to do work on my own over the past few years.

Wish me luck?

It's a regular work week for me, which is typically very boring at the end of the month, as work flows in cycles. I work on tedious "projects" during this time. At this time of year, I really have to make a Herculean effort to stay focused and at work, with the wing of my building often being empty with people on vacation.

I have my third appointment with a my new neuro on Friday. Tests results thus far haven't picked up on anything other than possible degenerative disc disease, but I may have found a reason that would explain symptoms (lead poisoning over a two year period from 1990 to 1992) which I will be discussing with her.

Found out late today that this was my DS's last day of work for the Census. He turned 20 in March; an earlier post was asking to trade teenagers...just wait until you hit this age! As a single mother, these last 2 years of parenting have been the most challenging so far. Would not want to trade him in for another teenager or younger; that would mean I'd just have to go through so much of this stuff all over again. While I love my son, I do not love what I am going through with him right now. Would rather trade him in for a decent, kind and loving male somewhere close to my age who thinks I'm great!

Hope the week is good for you, whatever it may bring...down time, normalcy, helpful medical care, but most of all the love and support from others.

Audrey

TO REVERSE THE PROCESS AND RETURN CONTROL OF YOUR MONITOR SCREEN TO WHATEVER OR WHOEVER NORMALLY MAKES PRINT SIZE DECISIONS,....(anyone remember Twilight Zone?)

HOLD DOWN CONTROL KEY WHILE STRIKING THE - (DASH OR MINUS SIGN) FOUND BEWTEEN THE ZERO AND EQUALS SIGN ON THE NUMBERS ROW OF THE KEYBOARD.

NO NEED TO INVOLVE THE SHIFT KEY IN EITHER DIRECTION.

HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE.  I'M LOST WHEN I CAN'T SEE TO READ SO THIS WAS AN AMAZING DISCOVERY FOR ME.
