SX Switched sides?

I walked Outside today, 4.5 miles in 80 minutes. It was not hot, but it was very sunny. I wore my cooling collar.

The foot flailing switched sides. I lose control of my foot. I can pick it up OK  but I'm not sure where it's going to land. it has previously happened with my right leg before but today it was my left. My right leg was fine.

I sat for 10 mintues and it was fine. Has anyone had a n exertion related sx switch sides?

Kyle

You are certainly becoming the ironman with the distances.... very impressive.  It doesn't take extreme heat for use to over heat internally.  Our core temp can have just a slight increase and cause major problems.  I must say, though, my weak side is my right leg and it has never taken a day off - I wish it would.    I know that floppy feeling of trying to place a foot down all too well.

Hopefully this was a one time fluke and your body just got confused as to which side is which....

Under the right conditions (heat + exercise + outside) the flailing foot has become a fairly predictable visitor. It's happened with my right foot 3 or 4 times. I'm pretty sure that if I can keep my core temp at a reasonable level it doesn't appear. It never happens inside when on the treadmill.

As I mentioned, the strange twist yesterday was the it switched sides. I'm just glad it switched to the other leg, rather than spread to both :-) I'm speaking with my doc on Saturday and will discuss with him.

I haven;t started the Ampyra yet. I'm going to get the prescription when I speak to The Guru on Saturday.

P.S.
Did you start Ampyra recently? I remember you were thinking about having a discussion with your doc about it...

Hey Kyle. I'm hoping to hear that this was a one-time issue for you. I don't like the sound of it, to be honest. Big kudos for all the hard work you've been putting in on the exercise.  Please keep us posted.

Best,
Jane
