OH YES!!!! Been depressed for years and have anxiety ....and also fears about my health. Been on SSI Disability because of Major Depression and anxiety etc. since January of 2000. Was in a car accident about 5 years ago and it was horrifying and after that got a really big fear of dying.

I don't really feel like I have any friends. I don't have much support with my health issues. It doesn't help that I withdraw from people because of depression.

I hardly go anywhere...I wish I could have a normal life.. Not be depressed...have real friends and get out to go shopping and go get coffee and go shopping and eat out.....such normal things, but not for me... Depression just s---ks!!!! (can I use the "s" word... New to this wonderful website.

It's just pretty bad when your husband doesn't want to hear me talk about health problems..my son said he didn't want to hear me talking about MS. My mom doesn't talk to me too much about it. I don't have too much support. I don't know if I'll ever get a diagnosis.

I'm not always so negative... When I remember to do these things and try to do them...it DOES help:
Try to be positive, try to not gripe :), tell myself there will be a brighter day, try to stop thinking bad thoughts. Try it... It really works!! :)

I think when I pray more that helps, too. After thinking I might have MS, I've spent so much time online researching MS (I think I know a lot more than my doctor cause I've found out SO much :) that I haven't been praying as much... Shoulda prayed more ... Researched and worried less!

Oh it really maatters what we think about... No matter how bad thing are, having a good mindset .. Good thoughts makes a huge difference!!!

Take care... Hope you're feeling better soon... Be blessed.

Momzilla couldn't have said it any better!
I have been on an anti depressant for a couple of years now. It generally helps most of the time, but I still have some days when depression hits. I cry and move on! I truly believe that dealing with a disease like MS naturally leads to some frustration and depression. Talk to your doctor before it takes a toll on you.

Momzilla pretty much said it all.

I can say that I have had my depressed times. I just got out of a funk, (as I call it) and feeling better now.

As lulu said talk to your doctor. Don't suffer in silence.

I couldn't have said this better than Momzilla-  I think the majority of us here are on some type of antidepressive drug.  Please talk to your health care provider and don't suffer in silence.

hugs, Lulu

In a word -- YEP!  I have had issues with post-partum depression with each of my pregnancies. After my second and subsequent pregnancies I was lucky enough to get treatment and had a good support system. The first one was rough!!

I have been having symptoms of MS for years now, and chronic illness can be very depressing. Depression can also be a PRIMARY symptom of MS, depending on the location of demyelination

I was reluctant to take an antidepressant because (without a definitive diagnosis) each time I'd end up in the hospital with severe weakness, the staff docs would see "depressed middle-aged woman" instead of "otherwise healthy MS patient."  I felt a certain stigma, either there or self-perceived.

I am fortunate enough now to have a wonderful internist, Dr. McDreamy, who immediately believed my symptoms (without much in the way of test evidence) and immediately recognized my depressive symptoms and put me on an anti-depressant. I felt SOOOO much better!!

I'm afraid I don't know you yet. Are you diagnosed? Have you talked to a doc about depression? If not, please do! The sooner the better! You will be so glad you did! I promise you that.

Please make an appointment to talk about depression tomorrow! It is absolutely vital for your health!

Take care and feel well!! Peace,

Momzilla*
