Lulu,
I have bursitis in my shoulder, didn't knwo I could get it in my hip too. Thanks for the information, I will make an appointment with my PCP tomorrow to get it checked out, easier going there than my neuro since my PCP is only 15 minutes away versus and hour to my neuro.
Paula
Paula,
I don't know if you remember back in the winter when I thought it was theMS causing my hip pain and it turned out to be bursitis. I went to the orthopedic doc just to be sure before bumping my baclofen. He immediately touched the spot that caused the pain and made the dx within 3 minutes in the exam room. A mega shot of cortisone stopped the pain and he rx'd physical therapy, which I did a few times.
I am still trying to remember to do the exercises on my own to keep the bursitis away.
Both the doc and the PT think the bursitis is directly related to my MS - compensating for the weak leg and limping most probably caused the inflammation in my hip.
My point is don't assume it's you MS and get checked out. There may be adifferent cause for the pain anda tretment to stop it.
be well, Lulu
Alex,
Yeah we would make quite a pair. Anyone one else want to join lol
The nightmare will have to end sooner or later I hope but if not it is only more reason to push on and make the best of a bad situation.
Lisa,
lLOL "Hip spasticity groupies" thats great, be we could form a large group lol
Paula
I think we should start a club called "Hip Spasticity Groupies" It's the bomb.
@HVAC: You playing with your boobages? That must turn your husband on!!! (kidding).

@Figgy: I hope you're feeling better darlin!
I am so sorry. I know exactly what you mean about new symptoms and waking from the nightmare.
My favorite Far Side cartoon is all these beds lined up. It says "Wake up Chuck it is only a nightmare, of course you are still in Hell". A little over the top but it makes me laugh.
I press on my chest because of spasms. My husband says the neighbors think you are playing with your boobs. You and I would make quite a pair.
I hope they can find some relief for you.
Alex
Pam,
Thank you, this is just another symptom along the way of many more to come I am sure. But it really is the most uncomfortable of the symptoms, well the burning is the worst but that is under control. It is the new symptoms that always get to me, I can't stand getting new symptoms and hope that they can just go away. Hoping one day I will wake up from this nightmare :)
I am to the point now that when I walk I have to keep my hand on my hip area to give it some pressure in order for me to be able to walk. But it helps a lot even if I look like I am playing with my bum lol.
Paula
Hey Paula,
I get hip pain too, and I have had it come and go over the years since my 20's. When I found out I had scoliosis, I thought, hey maybe that is why my hip always hurts and I end up walking with a limp, and then I was told it was arthritis... I guess I will never know, but the pain is horrible especially after sitting for a while, I go to stand up and I have a crooked walk for a couple of steps until it eases up.
I do notice that when I feel the pain in my hip, that it feels good when I have deep pressure on it. I love it when my kids are lying on the couch next to me and they push their little feet into my hip, it feels soooo good. LOL
My right hip is the problem, and its also the side when I go to lift my right leg to cross it over my left (resting my rt. ankle on my lft. knee) it hurts like H E L L and I have to lift it with my hand.
Hope you are feeling better soon,
Hugs,
Pam
Lisa,
It is starting to ease up so I think I will just wait until my appointment next month to talk to him about it. I am hoping it eases all the way so I can be pain free but not counting on it lol.
Kelly,
I am not on Baclofen, I will talk to my doctor about it next month. It is crazy how fast it can hit you. I felt fine up until this flared up on me. Hope it doesn't happen again, it is very painful and I am not liking it.
Paula
My hips have been really really achy for the last week or so, too. Lots of localized pain - especially my right side. I tend to think mine is related to spasticity - either in my legs or my lower back. If you take Baclofen, I wonder if you took an extra one or two if it might help.
I hope you feel better soon...
-Kelly
I know that feeling of not wanting to bother the "MDs" on the weekends. It makes you hesitant to do so thinking they deserve some time off -- however, I'd hate to see you uncomfortable.
I would say if it doesn't get better by tomorrow, give him a call during the day, perhaps mid-morning. This way you won't be waking him up (or at least you wont feel like you are - heh) and its not during the night time either when people are eating dinner and relaxing.
I will say a little prayer for you to feel better!
Lisa
Lisa,
Thank you for your response. the muscle relaxers didn't do much to help it is ok today if I don't move around to much. I havent called my neuro yet. I will call Monday, I know I said I would call today but I feel bad bothering him on the weekend.
Paula
I'm so sorry you are going through this pain. I know this feeling in the hips. Feels as though you dislocated them. It's awful.
Sometimes muscle relaxers work, sometimes they don't.
What did your Neuro say????
Hope you feel better
hugs
Lisa
Ren,
thank you for your response. I am calling my nuero today. It is a little better but I can tell if I keep moving it is going to be like last night and I don't want that anymore. Didn't get a lot of sleep due to the pain but it has eased up some.
I took 2 muscle relaxers last night and it didn't do much for the pain when I moved it did however make me tired lol.
Paula
Hi Paula,
Sorry to hear for your pain. I am very familiar with this type of pain and mine was dx to be weak hip flexor muscles due to a poor nerve signal to the parts in question. Muscle relaxants or spasticity meds could take the edge off for you.
There many muscles and attachments in the areas you are speaking of. Just today I received another steroid injection into my left hip area (greater trochanter bursa).
I do hope you can get some help with this as you sound like in terrible pain.
Let us know what you find out.
Ren
