Jen,

You may have already checked into the financial assistance programs, but you might want to give this a look:

Teva says Copaxone is the most profitable MS drug in history. Another company has a generic  of Copaxone and is fighting in the U.S. courts with Teva. Ironically Teva fights in court to make generics of all the other best selling drugs in the U.S.

Teva's marketing is expensive as is the whole Share Solutions organization which is to get and keep as many MS patients on Copaxone and to find out about problems with the drug before the FDA does.

In ten years DMDs will be in pill form and more expensive so the price of the injectables will seem like a bargain to the insurance companies.

I just started Copaxone and feel extremely fortunate for my cost. It is $5.00 for a 3 month supply. So less then 2 dollars a month.

As fortunate as I feel, I also feel just as angry for Teva for making this drug so expensive. Perhaps if they did away with all the fancy brochures and "trinkets" they keep sending me, they could lower the cost? Crazy.

I pretty much pay the whole $1700 per month until it reaches the end of the donut hole at $4300, then I pay about $200 per month.  Expensive meds on Medicare s*ck if you have a good income.

I fall into the middle class donut hole where you make too much for assistance, but still can't afford the meds.

Hence, I am on no meds.

Is that $11.00 Canadian?  Or $1100 Canadian?

For me, Copaxone costs $75 a month.  Considering the cost at retail, this is a big savings, but I still can't afford $75 a month.

Hi Jacqueline, Welcome to our community here at MedHelp.  I'm glad you found us and hope you will come back often to share and learn.

So you've been on copax for 12 years?  I'm impressed with that length of time.

I have private insurance, live in the US, and pay $50 a month as my co-pay.  I understand the monthly cost of the copaxone is around $2,500.

Welcome again,
Lulu
