i have had persistent dry cough which has been going on several weeks. My neuro today said that i have carpal tunnel to explain numbness in hands. Took one look at my demeanor and said im a classic heredity Panic attack sndrome. All neuro test came back ok. wants to check for benign tumor like in appendix area (carcinoid) because of the face flushing.  the check may have preexisting bronici spasm which in turn cause my panic attacks.  Trying xantax full dosage.

I think i will take my mexico trip next week...

Also, low B-12 can cause many of your symptoms.

My first MRI came back "normal" as well.  As did all my blood work which had me looking as healthy as a 20 year old (I was 41 at that time).

The problem with the MRI was that it was not performed with CONTRAST. I had another MRI with/without contrast which showed a couple of plaques with the contrast. I also had a spinal tap done and it was positive for IGg and banding associated with MS.

Interestingly enough, I went to Mayo Clinic for a second opinion and one of the neurologists I spoke with said that even though an MRI does not show plaques on the brain, if a person were to have their brain autopsied, you could potentially have thousands of demylinated places on your brain from MS that would not be pickd up on the MRI.

Just hang in there.  It took me almost two years to be diagnosed with MS.  In fact, at one point, my primary care doctor told me to go see a psychiatrist.  YOU know your body better than anyone else. Keep pushing on to get to the cause of your symptoms.  I would recommend the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL . They ran many, many tests to exclude any other causes of my symptoms.

Good luck! :)

Anxiety can cause coldness of extremities, shortness of breath, facial tingling, etc...

I would get the blood pressure checked first, to make sure it's not an issue.  Often heart problems manifest differently in women than men.

How does your tightness in the chest manifest?  Does it feel like you've got congestion, or like you need to cough?  Or do you feel 'thirsty for air?'

Hopefully, the neuro will be able to help.  If not, there are many people in limbo on this site and perhaps they will be a helpful resource for you.  I have MS but my MRI's show lesions and my LP was abnormal, as well.  Hope you feel better very soon!
