does this sound like MS

Hi there,
This is going to be long. I'm trying to break it up so its easier to read and highlighting when new sx start

I haven't been around lately mainly due to being sx free for 6 weeks, but there back :(

I’m writing symptoms that don’t fit or never experienced with my current conditions: FMS, IBS, RLS, PTSD, OA (left knee), Plantar Fasciitis (right foot), and rotator cuff problem-right arm. For example, if I’m having problems concentrating, I will most likely assume its FibroFog and will most likely not write it down unless it feels different then normal.

I'll start in 12/08 when I had what I call the flu from H. average fever was 102.6 F (6 weeks) it spiked for 2 days to 105.8 F. I couldn't get out of bed and I'm very very grateful my daughter (8 at the time) took care of me. she made sure I drank and had something to eat although I don't remember much. I had intense dizzy spells.  after I recovered from this, I seemed normal for 1-2 weeks other then light dizzy spells when I was overheated.

In January 2009, I was sitting in my recliner resting my knee when I suddenly felt tingling sensation from my right cheek to just above my right eye. Then I started seeing spots and kind of like a red-green film with bright white spots along the edge in my right eye vision and it seemed to get darker with my right eye open. My left eye is normal. If I close my right eye, the light level returns to normal. I started to get dizzy, like spinning. My heart was racing and had a cold sweat. Then my side vision for only my right eye went hazy then black for about 45 minutes. Luckily everything went back to normal. I am not sure if this incident is related to the following.

February ‘09, I was watching TV when I brushed my right hand against my blue jeans and it felt like a very soft blanket. It took me a little time to relies I didn’t have a soft blanket on, and ½ of my ring finger and pinky were numb mixed with pins and needles along the wrist, forearm, and upper arm (underside). It comes and goes. Went to my doc on 3/11/09 I told him what was going on. I was thinking pitched nerve like CTS or something like it. My doc told my to pay attention to my arm and see what sets it off, when I go to bed keep my arms straight, and I’ll see you in 2 weeks. Months later I was giving conductive nerve test. that doc couldn't find anything wrong and told if he had to guess he'd say it CTS. I would agree if my problem was on the thumb side, but my problem is on the pinky side.

On 3/19/09, I had stinging pain in my right forearm around the bone and pins and needles on the skin layer. My skin on my right arm is very itchy around my right wrist, elbow, forearm, and hand. If I moved my arm, the muscles felt as if they were being shocked and torn.

On 3/20, the pins and needles spread to the whole hand. ½ of my wrist and my forearm went numb and the other half felt like there was a dagger twisting along with electric shocks. My right hand seems to have some weakness and have a hard time holding things (cup, pen, etc.).  I cannot straighten or rotate my right arm without sharp, stinging; tearing pain with an electric shock (it reminds me of grabbing an electric fence). This electric pulse goes up my arm into my spine, muscle spasm follows this, and this pulse usually goes down to my legs.

a few days later, I woke up and throw my blankets off (with my right arm) and got up as I was walking out of the hallway when that weird tingling returned (above my right eye)along with visional spots (colors and black) along a red-green color distortion, spinning/dizziness and this time electricity feeling in my spine. I turned around and tried to make it back to my room. I made to my doorway and went down I was able to use my left arm to break the fall. I had Cold sweats, pounding heart, pin and needles every where on my right side, sharp stinging pain in my right forearm. About an hour later, I finally made it to my bed after the spinning stopped. I stayed in bed all day since I had waves of dizzy spells all day.

I noticed heat seems to make what ever this is worse; I feel dizzy/spinning/spacey. I remember feeling this the last 2 summer but it wasn’t as severe; once I cooled down it when away. Last summer I felt a little worse then the summer before. I stayed inside with the AC on all summer when it was hot outside.  I didn't relies how bad whatever this is was going to be for summer '09.

4/2/09 I still can't feel a part of my forearm; it’s now been 2 weeks . Under that section I get pins and needles or a burning, stinging, or shocking pain it’s been off and on all day. I can't straighten it out, rotate, or lift with my right arm at normal speeds without risking vision problems, 'spinning' spells. Unless its very light, lifting with my right arm is out of the question. I can very slowly straighten out or rotate my right arm, but not to full range before a shocking pain makes me jerk my arm back. I can move my right shoulder with little side effects, pins and needles in fingers, hand, wrist, slight numbness of my underarm for the most part. What ever this is, it seems to be in my nerves. I can feel the sensations in my nerves before my muscles react. I was sitting in the evening and suddenly got a spinning sensation.

the next day, My feet feel off: numbness or pain at the right heel, ankle feels sharp pain w/weight. Its feels like it following a nerve. My legs stared to feel heavy around noon. I feel off balance when standing or walking. I felt an electric pulsing threw my spine and legs. It seemed to spike when I moved. Typing makes ½ wrist (side w/thumb on right hand) has shape and stinging pain the other half feels numb. Around 5pm my fingers feel pins and needles or numbness; I can barely feel pressure. I have the same symptoms with my left hand, but not as bad.

4/8/09. I have numbness and shape sting pain in my right arm. Muscle spasms in back and upper right leg. Back pain that follows my spine, it starts around my shoulder blades and moves down and back. My back and left shoulder muscles are getting tight, similar to my right forearm before it went numb or like a snake squeezing. I have Pins and needles in right hand, wrist, back, and feet. I feel off balance, dizzy and in a fog, it feels different from FibroFog. I feel slightly nauseous. Around 7pm, my vision is starting to get hazy and everything seems to be moving or splits. When I close my eyes, I feel as if I’m spinning. My limbs feel heavy. I feel as if I’m being poked or stabbed in my right heal and back; left side mid-rib cage. This remained when I went to bed.

4/14/09 my right forearm hasn’t changed. I’m been having multiple dizzy spells. My right eye hurts (the back and sides) when I move it.  I’ve been seeing flashes of light or something dark in the side or corner of my right eye. I have Pins and needles and numbness in my arms, fingers, legs and feet. It comes and goes.

the next morning I take a shower no problem. When I was getting dressed, my right arm and leg started shaking and wouldn’t stop until I sat down and stopped using the affective limbs. I’ve been dizzy most of the day.

4/18/09 my right forearm is numb. I get dizzy spells when I’m in the sun and they go after I cool down. My bladder is very active; it’s been a couple of years since I’ve had this problem.

4/19/09 my right forearm is numb. My left shoulder and blade hurt when I woke up. It hurts to lift my arm. My kids are asking me to repeat what I say when I’m over heated, then I relies I said the wrong word. For example, (son), can you give me that paperclip when I’m pointing at a close pin. While I was talking, I was a little overheated I got slightly dizzy and lightheaded, I had the picture in my head, but couldn't bring the words to mind; when I thought close pin I said paper clip. This happened one more time later in the day.

you mentioned MRI of your spine, but what area?  My brain MRI is perfectly clean, no MS lesions to be found...  but my cervical and thoracic spine MRIs came back oodles of lesions...

What kind of insurance do you have that it takes 6-8 weeks.  I started with an HMO insurance when I first started on the dx rollercoaster, and when my doctor called in and pushed for scheduling MRIs, would have approval within 3-5 days max.   Ask your doctor to call in to help with pre-cert process.

Good luck...

I when to my doc on thursday and told him the sx that have come back. he did some test (checked reflexes in legs, arms, eyes), ordered another blood test, and wants me to go to a neuro. My PCP is convinced this is neurological.  I have to get the ok from the insurance which takes 6-8 weeks.  my PCP asked me to put my hands out palms up, my left hand finger were all straight, but my right ring and pinky couldn't straighten out.

Last summer when my sx were total disabling, my PCP checked the reflex in my right leg and I almost kicked him in the head. (I glad his reflexes are good, I would of felt bad if I hit him. it's hard to find good doctors that don't suffer from D.U.M.B.) last thurs, the same test my right leg barely moved.  I always turn my head away, so I don't know when a reflex is being tested. I can't close my eyes without spinning and feeling wobbly.

last Sunday, I once again woke up dizzy. I hate days like this because they are filled with sx worsening or new ones show up or should I say old ones come back. I barely could move my arm due to electrical shocking pain. ( it feels like grabbing a electric fence)and my right leg felt weak. any time I looked up, I felt as if I were spinning and/or a weird buzzing shooting down my spine. my balance was off as I had a very lean to the right when I walked.

the last MRI I had on my spine was about 9 or 10 years ago and it was perfectly normal. at the time I didn't have these weird sx and my doc was looking for the reason I was pain. Could this mri be used as my baseline?

6/19/09 R forearm has tingling and numbness. My R vision has lots of spots, or is burry or jumpy. Tingling on my face from my R cheek to upper R lip; my nose and upper lip have tingling and numbness. When this happens I notice my tongue tingles too. I have been getting spinning spells when I’m a little overheated. My R eye hurts when it moves. Tingling and numbness in my R hand/fingers and R foot all day; it gets worse throughout the day and the L hand/fingers and foot join in. My L calf still feels if there is a band around it. My memory is shot; I keep forgetting stuff. It’s hard to use the right word or say something the way I thought is. When I go somewhere, I have to tell myself many times where I’m going and why.

From 6/09 to 10/09 the same sx.
On 6/30 I had a physical done and blood tests.
7/10 got the test results all normal. within the normal range but on the low end for vit D3 and B12. I was told to increase my D3 pills and got a B12 shot. I got B12 shot and it along with D3 is normal. I felt worse after they were normal I blame the fibro.
eye doc 1 said he thinks there is a problem with my optic nerve. eye doc 2 said eye migraine, he wouldn't listen about my other sx (like eye doc 1).

anyways in in late sept early oct the summer heat left :) and like a switch all sx disappeared in the reverse order they came.  my doc told me we'll have to wait and see if they come back and if the do call me asap. the only time I noticed any sx was when I was overheated... until about 6 weeks ago. the dizziness returned 1st then my right forearm started having electrical type shock, pins and needles, my right eye is acting up, muscle spams on right side, bladder is over active.

I see my PCP tomorrow. do this sound like MS or something else?

and sorry this is so long

sx continue

4/30/09 my right forearm is numb. When I woke up, I was dizzy it didn’t matter if I was lying down or sitting up. It comes and goes; when I not dizzy I’m spacey. My right eye hurts when I move it. My toes on my left foot and my right heel hurt. When I turn my neck, I feel a weird sensation then I get slightly dizzy. Around 1pm, I got very tired.

5/7/09 my right forearm still has a numb spot. Around 9:30am, when I stretched my back, I turned my neck and I got very dizzy. When I was trying to get to the bathroom, I had a sudden dizzy spell and had to hold on the walls for support. I was also seeing a pink spot in my vision. My balance is off and I can’t close my eyes w/o a spinning sensation. I tried to stand with my arms stretched out, tilt my head back and tried to touch my nose. I couldn’t touch my nose, upper lip. My bladder is very active

5/8/09 this morning around 5:30am I woke up to my left foot cramping. It felt like it was trying to fold inward. I tried to rub it, but the cramping wouldn’t go away. It’s 10 am now and it’s still cramping. My right forearm is still numb.

5/9/09 my right forearm is numb. My left foot is still cramping off and on all day.

5/10/09 my right forearm was numb until 9pm when it got extremely itchy for 3 ½ hours. Both my legs became itchy also, just less intense. When I touch my arm, it still doesn’t feel normal, my finger feels like a dagger and the pain is delayed, I feel a shocking pain from my forearm to right thumb. When I tap my thumb and index fingers together, I feel something weird in my spine it make me jerk and/or sway, my stomach becomes unsettled. My legs got very weak and I got lightheaded when I went outside and started to get a little over heated.

5/11/09 I was dizzy when I woke up. It didn’t matter if I was laying down, sitting, or standing, I was dizzy/spinning. It lasted for several hours straight then was off and on during the day. My right forearm feels likes its on fire with shocking pain that goes to my thumb and spine.  I can’t stretch out my right arm without tightness in my forearm muscles and shocking pain. Around 1:30pm my right forearm started to go numb again unless I stretch out or rotated my arm. My fingers, both hands, have pins and needles. My right eye hurts on the back side. My right eyeball started jumping around 4:45pm for at least 15 seconds, I had double vision.

5/13/09 my right forearm still has numbness. I can kind of feel it and not. My right eyeball hurts when its moves and the back of my eyeball hurt. My vision in my right eye is a little blurry. I felt tingling on my tongue for 15-20 minutes. I got tired around 1pm. I didn’t take a nap, but I did lie down for an hour. My IBS and bladder have been very active today. Around 8pm, I stared feeling tingling on my legs and a weird sensation almost like a buzzing in my spine.

5/17/09 Last night when I got to go to the bathroom, my right eye was dim. My left eye was normal. I wasn’t laying on my right side. With only my right eye open, I barely could see anything mainly black. With only my left eye open, I could see the white bathroom walls and the bumps on it; I could see fine with the light from the TV. This morning, I awoke to both my feet and left calf cramping. My feet felt they were going to fold in on themselves and my calf felt it had a charley horse in the middle of the muscle or a very tight band. My right forearm still has numbness and delayed reaction. I have tingling in my right hand all day. I’ve been dizzy on and off all day; sometimes it’s light or severe and it comes in waves. Back of right eyeball hurts. Around 9:30pm, both my feet are tingling, pins of needles, going numb

5/18/09 my right eyeball is sore on the back and the vision is dim and a little blurry. I have stabbing pain in the back of my right eyeball it’s been off and on, it started around 9am,and faded to sore achy pain around 6pm it remained when I went to bed. I had double vision. My R eye was light sensitive most of the day. My right forearm still has numbness or delayed. I have to push buttons very hard to get the desired effects. My R index finger tip is numb and cannot feel cold, tingling in my R hand and fingers. My R foot has tingling and my toes are numb all day.  Around 2pm, I got very dizzy that comes and goes in waves. My stomach is getting unsettled.

5/19/09 I woke up to my L calf very tight like there was a band around it. It was like that for 3 hours, then light tremors for ½ hour. It’s sore. My R forearm is the same; numbness, delayed reaction. My R eye is sore. Around 1:30pm, I’m starting to get spacey and R eyeball pain is starting to increase. Around 2pm, left calf is cramping and didn’t let up for the rest of the day. Around 5pm, I went to get some tea but went to my bedroom.

5/20/09 my R forearm has numbness and tingling. My R eyeball hurts on the back side; anything from aching to stabbing. My R eyeball jumped. I have been having spinning spells on and off. My L calf feels if there is a tight band around it and it feel a little weak. Drinking water, stretching or rubbing it does not help. My feet have tingling on and off. Around 9:30pm, I noticed my L index finger is tingling and going numb.

5/21/09 my right forearm is the same; numbness mixed with tingling or pins and needles when touched. My R eye is sore on the backside: shape pain around 2:30pm.  My L calf still fell there’s a tight band on it. On the left side of my throat is itchy. I had the nerve conductive velocity test today. Around 3pm, I started feeling tingling on my R cheek under the eye to upper right lip; it’s been on and off

6/1/09 R forearm has tingling and numbness. Active bladder. Tingling in R and L fingers, and R shin; pain in L shin on and off. Pins and needles in feet. The back of my eyes are achy; R eye felt worse. Last nights t-storm took 2 branches down, I had to saw them off the tree. Normally this isn’t a problem; in the past I could trim all 5 plum trees without much of a problem; I might be a little tired and sore but it’s manageable. I barely had the strength or energy to complete cutting 2 downed branches from last nights storm. When I got inside I was exhausted and had to rest; my R hand felt tingling, I feel spacey. My R leg felt like jello and I had a hard time lift my R foot; once I cooled down my R leg went back to normal. Around 9:30pm, my R foot (sole) felt intense pain for no reason. Heat makes what ever this is worse.

6/14/09 my R forearm had tingling and numbness in the morning. Around noon, electric shocks started; I can’t stretch my arm out or rotate without the shocking pain. Around noon, I got up and my R leg was weak and heavy and I couldn’t stand on it. I was bouncing around between R and L leg before I got close enough to sit on a chair; I stayed there for a few hours. When I finally got up, my R leg was still weak and not obeying well, I was dragging my R foot to walk; I was like this for the rest of the day. My R eye was jumping on and off all day. My vision was grainy with some flashing. My R eye hurts when it moves on its sides and back. I was using wrong words. Tingling in my R hand/fingers and in both feet; L foot was more like pins and needle and R foot was tingling, numb, and felt heavy.
