Sorry, I don't know about MRIs, but I did have the NCV and SEP. They're as Kristin described--not something you'd do for fun, but not horrible.

As far as I understand it, the NCV is only connected with the peripheral nerves. The SEP measures the nerve signal conduction in both the peripheral and central nervous (brain and spine) systems. The slow conduction in the central nervous system combined with normal conduction in the peripheral nervous system is what put me on the path to my dx with MS.

Hope this helps.

Hi!
Please don't feel ignored.  Sometimes it takes a bit for people to see these posts.  I recommend doing what Db1 said and PM Quix with your question.

There are so many people on here now and the posts go so quick because of all this activity.  I have to be honest, I usually get through the first half of the first page before I am tired and have to stop for a while.  Hang in there and bump up your post to the top.

Hugs!
Kristin

Oh yeah, DUH, you had questions about the NCV and SEP  I have had both.  The SEP was a procedure where electrodes are placed all over your body and the tech stimulates one part at a time for a small period of time then moves on to another part.  It was aggravating but not painful.  The NCV was small jolts applied in the same fashion and some of them could be uncomfortable but it was not a long test.  Difference between these tests - sorry can't help you there.  I know my SEP was delayed in my legs but neuro called it "not relative" but my NCV was normal, I think.   Good luck on both, you will do fine!!

Sorry I don't know about ncv or sep.  I am also not very well versed in MRI beyond my limited understanding of my own.  Do as Wanna suggests and keep bumping if you need to.  You could try PM'ing Quix directly with a request for help.  It can be tough to keep up with all the posts.  I know I am not able to read all of them.

Good luck!

Oh hun, please don't feel ignored.  Someone will come along and respond.  If you want your original post to be up front, "bump" it to the top.

So sorry I cannot answer your questions, but someone will.  Hang in there!  And welcome to this little corner of the world.

Wanna
