has anyone tried this med?

uk2
Hi All,

Hope you all well. just a flying visit.

rheumy changing my meds from lyrica too a drug with dopamine in it as they have been studies in the U.S.A that dopamine is a hormone/neurotransmitter lacking in pakinson patients and that sometimes it has been founf to be lacking in fibroymyalgia patients too and i know there are some wise people on here so thought i would pay a visit and see if i can get some info from somebody that might of tried it or knows someone who has.

It's ususally called l-dopa or levodopa

hi sam,

i hope you are feeling somewhat better today.

I have take Sinimet for over a year. it could be longer.
(it is carbi/levodopa) I have FOG (freezing of gait)  sometime stopped dead in my track and can not go again. Things like doorways or trasfer to a car will make me stop. It like a block in my brain.

This     sinimet has helpd, but not witout side effect of nausea. I took Tigan along til my ins (new to medicare) declined covering   the high cost of tigan. I just saaw my movemnt doctor and she now will have me take Siinimet CR, someting it takes longer in the system  so hoping less nausea.
I did take Ginger supplientmts that workkk great, but timing is key just how long before the dose.
While    i donot have parkinsons.

If you watch Micheal J fOx. his parkinsons meds give him what loks to mee a chorea type side effect.
It can cause more diizziness , but once it was the right  dose it has helped.

I think there  are a few others toowith levodopa, and hope you get the right one for you.
be well, amo

I was put on this med for a very short time at my first trip tp CCF. I had a truly awful reaction to it. Which of course does not mean you will too. The doc was acting on a hunch that I might have Parkinsns Associated Dyskinesia, which was since ruled out (thank goodness, because she said there was no other drug to put me on if that was the issue).

Oh, Samantha, it's SOOOoooo good to hear from you.  I'm sorry about the rough patch, but you do have to reach out and touch us every once in a while.  We worry.

Womb infection - blecch!!  As if you needed that.  As you can see we are all humming along nicely here.  Lot's of new people and the UK is nicely represented.  Australia's well represented, too.  We can have our own gimp Olympics.  I will defend my World Indoor Endurance Reclining Gold Medal.

Sorry, I don't know much about using L-dopa and related things in Fibro.

Lotsa (((((((HUGS))))))))

Hi Hunny,

Been having a rough patch. I have heard the side effects to these drugs are not nice but can make a difference to your life, i just talked to another lady under the same consultant and she has been on this drug and she is struggling with the side effects but it has changed her life around and she has fibro. The drug she was on was called pramipexole but there are many but do the same thing mirapexin, ropinirole (requip) which is what you were on.

Oh i so pray it will work as i am house bound and really getting fed up of this, kids off and driving me crazy LOL and this womb infection the big guy upstairs sure has a sence of humour LOL

It's nothing though is it our suffering compared to jesus and the early christians suffering it's a pin drop in the ocean!!

Lots Of Love To You and Hugs

Hi sweetheart...you have been missed SO MUCH.  I use to be on Reuip (an anit-Parkinson drug for Restleg Syndrome)  I felt like you know what on it, but I seem to have reacted to all the drugs with l-dopa and levodopa that way.  So maybe it's just me.

This drug combination doesn't seem to work well with my own brain chemicals.

BUT, everyone is different.  If you have to go on one of these drugs, would you come back over to us and tell us how it's going?  We miss you, Sam.

I send big hugs and all my love,
Heather
