I'm in limboland, but I've always been heat sensitive. I had heat stroke when I was younger and have had or been on the edge of heat exhaustion quite a few times.

I strongly dislike summer due to the heat. I'm in upstate NY and our summer isn't horrible, but we tend to be humid. And, I can count on at least 2 weeks worth of 90+ heat (over 100 with the heat index).

In the last year, when I'm overheated it seems worse then it used to. My legs get shaky, I suddenly feel exhausted like I could lay down and nap right on the spot. I've felt nauseous from it, but more often get a headache. If I don't try to cool down then my vision will start to grey out, like I'm about to faint.

I haven't taken a hot shower in about 3 years now LOL because if it is too warm I start to have black and grey spots floating in my vision. I've never been in a hot tub, but I can only imagine the trouble one would cause me!

Like Anna said, once I cool down I'm better.

Hi Mary,

I am not diagnosed but I get very nauseous in the heat.  I also get very lethargic and even walking feels like I am wading through quicksand.  If I stay exposed too long I also get dizzy and lightheaded and sort of week feeling ( I spent my whole trip in toronto feeling like this unless i was in the a/c).  I was just at the pool with my boys this week and found the heat and humidity too much to tolerate and the moment I got outside the building I started to feel better. Yes, I do feel nauseous when overheated but have done so  all my life. I grew up in Miami so heat exhaustion was always a concern. As I grew older ,it seemed to take less and less  heat exposure to bring on the nauseated feeling. Can't say it's related to MS or if it's just my body chemistry.

Independent of the cause, one should always make sure you are adequately hydrated. Dehydration can cause nausea and lead to a vicious cycle where the dehydration and heat do lead to heat exhaustion because the nausea prevents the intake of fluids which just adds to the dehydration and leads to the body getting hotter and hotter.
