lyme vs ms

Hi all
Have been coming and going to this forum since June 2007 regarding all my ms symptons.
All my mri's have been clear, and my last was done on a 3t and I have had brain done as well as whole spine.
To cut a long story short, I have been tested for lyme and it has come back positive, so am now going to get my daughter tested, as she has been having ms symptons also.
Lyme is called the 'great immitator' as it immitates ms as well as other diseases.
Not that everyone has lyme, but it maybe worth looking into if you were like me having all clear testing and no answers.

LOL,, I dont have a clue,, just thought I would try to look into other avenues, and if this could be a connection then i would have to speak to my drs. about it.

I don't ever recall being bitten by a tick, but I did have cat scratch fever, so i thought that there was some kind of connection.

Thanks again,
Pam

I'm not seeing how one disease could relate to the other.  It's hard for me to think cat scratch fever 22 years ago could cause the symptoms you have had more recently.  What connection do you suspect?

Cat scratch fever is a bacterial infection caused by Bartonella henselae which can be passed to humans when a cat scratches or bites.

Lyme Disease is also a bacterial infection but is caused by Borrelia Burgdorferi which can be passed to humans by ticks (a specific type of tick that is very small and difficult to see).

Can cat scratch fever have a connection to lyme disease?? I had cat scratch fever when I was 17 yrs. old. I had a lymph node removed from behind my left ear because if it. If it is a culprit,, and this could be lyme disease, can I be in more serious health trouble at the age of 39.... since I have not been dx'd with it, and no treatment.

I dont know what to think?

Hey fellow Ozzie, sheesh your post is timed rather freakishly, id pm'd weakandfalling and mentioned we have ticks in Australia and our vets warn us to check our pets but lyme in humans is not on anyone's radar, then here you come with a dx of lyme.

lol I didn't even know about ticks being in Australia until i started watching Bondi vet's and then i thought it was only in NSW (like toads are to QLD) and still rather rare even for animals.

How you found out it was Lyme must of been a miracle of miracles, if you have any information on this and Australia i'd be very interested as i'm sure other fellow Ozzies would be interested too. I still believe its MS for me, but I am interested and would like to learn more about what this means for you.

Cheers..........JJ

Hi melissa,

you're the second "old" member to check in and let us know that Lyme is in the picture. I'm sorry to hear  this - getting treatment can be tediuous from what I understand.  Use lots of patience waiting for the drugs to work.  You are welcome to stick around here all you want, but there is a great Lyme forum here with very knowledgeable people who can help you make sense of it all.

Congrats on finding some answers.... now on to the treatment.
