no twinkle toes for me

Hi all,

I finally went to see an orthopedic today for my left foot... my toes are very rigid and are seperated and also I am unable to bend them... and now it is difficult to lift my leg up while lying down or bend my ankle... the pins and needles and spasms in the foot up to my thigh are horrible and my left leg is weaker than its ever been... i feel like i am dragging the leg with me...( i look like a drunken pirate with a peg leg... can you visualize that??)... not a pretty picture for a 54 year old chunky woman!!

anyway, the ortho was wonderful... he was extremely concerned... especially since i didn't have the mri yet...i know... i have to do it... i still can't find a hospital with 3 tesla that will sedate... if they sedate, they only have 1.5... i may have to travel... i am still looking but things have been crazy here... i know, no excuse... this ortho said it is imperative... he is concerned if it is MS  or it could be something pressing on the spine... he genuinely was concerned... he is also sending me tomorrow to be fitted with a brace...

so, i guess i won't be doing any toe dancing for awhile... kidding aside, i am worried some especially since i feel these past 3 weeks the leg is almost alien... and lots of spasms and twitching too...
an d my husband said seriously you are twitching and spasming alot during sleep... but it also happens while i am awake.

I am also having a real tough time with my left eye... sharp pain... off and on for a few seconds, a little blurry vision... clears... then happens again... this has happened 2x yesterday and once today... now what the heck can that be?

take care friends... all are in my prayers.
GOD bless,
Frann

Flogging is too cruel and unusual (and perhaps too kinky per Johnny).  So we will floog only.  Beware all yee who transgress.....

Someday I will let a psot stand without editing.  I was never a great typist, but it has become ridiculous!

thanks for the advice... i will follow thru...

i agree that this new situatuation can be a silver lining especially when i tell the neuropsychologist i have to see tomorrow for the long term disability... since i am supposed to be there from 9 am to 6pm... i guess we will have alot to talk about... i hate having to redo these tests since i did them in may... but that is what the long term disabilty people said i have to do before they decide my fate...

anyway, think about me tomorrow... hopefully he will agree with my neuropsych that my cognitive issues are credible and not a psych case...

as for the flogging... count me in too... especially since i am walking like a pirate (Arggh)....as well as constantly rechecking and re-editing what i put in my posts... i guess i am not alone... i can't get thru any words without my eyes jumping and finding the error and fixing it if i find it... as Quix stated... Oy!

God bless,
Frann

Only the wicked Folg.  Johnny begged not be be so treated, but when the circumstances dictate, we apparently need to be flooged.  And properly so in the public square.  that will keep epople inline!  Quiz

A flogging in the town sqaure for all to see.....

If you have been "flogged" by Quix, you are in a world of hurt....Hee Hee

Hey girls, if it were not for the delete key, I could not post here at all.  I seriously can say that I cannot type three words in consecutive order without going back to correct them.  It's exasperating, since I am a trained, fast typist...no more...MS has again taken away something else that I was good at.  MS should be "flogged" in the town square, I say!

Quix - Ha! Are you referring to the "flooging" you are going to give me by any chance?

I mispell  all the time.  I have to edit and re-edit my own writing  so many times before posting - and I still get it wrong.

Frann - I'm sure you understood that I was trying to say "Forget the 3T".  As Zilla would say, "Oy!"

It's a good idea to check the hip, but that wouldn't casue the spasm and locked toes.  GO get the 3T.  Yes, I would go for the "hi intensity" open 1.5T.  My goodness, you're already at the point of requiring a brace!  If nothing else this will keep future docs from dismissing you as a head case!!  The little bit of silver lining here.

You appear to be describing severe spacticity in the hip/leg.  You may very well need some meds, like Baclofen to help relieve this.  Q

Marcie - would you ridicule a fellow gimp's spelling?  You have no idea how badly I type when the eyes are wonky.  I transpose letters in at least every third word.  An altered gait would certainly accelerate degeneration of a hip!

I agree with Quix, it is not worth putting off the MRI.  Don't think about it - just get it done for peace of mind.

I am assuming the Ortho checked your hips?  Four years ago I had the same symptoms before my hip replacement - leg weakness, heavy leg, wide based gait, could not lift that leg while lying flat and neither could I raise my knee to my chest. I ended up dragging the leg around and I, too, looked like I was drunk.  I even went for Physical therapy which did not improve matters.

As I am writing this I am just wondering - in view of the MS diagnosed 2 years ago,  could some of it have been that?  I know my hip was very bad, bone on bone, but now wondering if it wasn't caused by the gait. If it was, then motor symptoms came earlier than originally thought.  The only thing I know is it cleared up with the hip surgery and now the other leg is doing the same. Hmmmmm!

Please get it checked regardless, and the eye,  and let us know what happens.
Take care
Marcie

It's not worth putting the MRI off to find the combo of sedation and a 1.5T.  Go ahead and try to find the newest 1.5T they have, and get this done!  Also your eye thing sounds like the beginnings of Optic Neuritis.  See a neuro-ophthalmologist and get checked!  Forget the 1.5T!  'kay?  Quix
