Here's the best site I've found about tinnitus:
http://brneurosci.org/tinnitus.html

After reading this article and including what my audiologist's diagnosis of sensorineural hearing loss, my guess is that my problem is the 8th cranial nerve.  I also have ringing in both ears and have the gaze evoked changes in the loudness of my tinnitus.

There's information about clicking and pulsative tinnitus as well.

It could be tinnitus but since it is beating you might want to have it looked at.  My tinnitis is a high pitch constant ring.  Like ess above, the day sounds mask it.  I hear it when the house is really still.

Yes if it's not the drummer boy I will usually get the high pitch and sometimes I get pressure in my ear followed by the high pitch tone....they are all fun...ha ha

I don't know if it's common or not in people with MS.  I've posted about this complaint before, and I've had people respond that they've had this symptom.  It really is weird, but considering that I've get a lot of facial spasms, I guess it could easily be explained by that.  I don't think it's related to TN, but I've had trouble with that as well.

It is one of the weirdest symptom that I've had (along with the sound bursts when I move my eyes to the side)!

I get the morse code clicking as well. I get it in my left ear. Very strange feeling/sound.
Is this common in ms?

My left ear is affected with tinnitus, but luckily for me the ringing is not often bothersome because the regular sounds of life usually mask it to a large degree.

I also get a clicking kind of sound from time to time. It actually comes across like a pair of tiny dice rattling in my ear.

Kelly, I don't know whether what you describe is tinnitus or not. But tinnitus is so common that ENTs often don't even try to figure it out. There are many many possible causes, the vast majority not remotely connected to MS.

I also don't know of any treatment. We may just have to put up with it.

This sounds more like something else.  Tinnitus, I believe, is more like roaring or ringing in the ear.  I have had sounds in my ear like Morse code--clicking.  I have been told that this sound is more like a muscle spasms around the ear.
