Welcome to our group :-)

Remedies for pain depend on the kind of pain you are experiencing. Pain related to "mechanical" insult, like herniated disks or spriained ankles, will often respond to anti inflammatory drugs. The safest approacch is often to start with non-seroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAID's) like Tylenol or Aleve.

Many of us have what's called neuropathc, or nerve, pain. There is no obvious cause for the pain. The pain centers for the affected area are instructed to fire for no reason. Mesages sent along damaged central nervous system paths get corrupted and the result is neuropathic pain. I have it in my feet. There is nothing wrong with my feet, but without meds they can hurt like h*ll :-)

Finding the right drug or drugs to deal with the pain can be a bit of a process. THe two most common types of meds used are anticonvulsants and antidperessants. WHo knows why, but they work. I take a combination of Lyrica (anticonvulsant) and Elavil (amitriptilyne-anti depressant). It took several months to find the right combination but we did and my feet don't hurt :-)

There are muscle relaxers for muscle spasms. There is Lyrica, Gabenpantin, and Triletal for nerve pain. There is adderal for fatigue. You can have a GP put you on these medications with out a diagnosis.  Narcotics do not work as well on MS pain. My MS specialist sent me to a pain clinic.
