weird symptom

I started to have left lower leg, ankle and calf swelling. the other day I would describe as pitting edema. Only on the left leg. Been having headaches to. I just starting walking, i usually run but I tried to do something new today. Not long after I returned home both of the top of the top of my legs the nerves starting jumping. This probably lasted for several minutes. has anyone ever experienced this before?  I go for my 2nd cervical MRI on Tuesday 9/4/07. I see the Nuero on Friday 9/7/07. Please feel free to offer advice....Toni

I usually bike indoors. This time I ventured outside in the heat. I live in South Florida. I am also menopausal. I had a hysterectomy 2 years prior. i am only 41. I use a stationary bike. I have been having problems with going to the bathroom too. # 2. Sorry this is so gross. I guess sometimes I get dehydrated because it is so hot here. i walked/ sometimes jogged out in the heat. My face turned beat red and I was sweating alot. When I returned home from my walk, the muscles were twitching in my thighs for a good 15 minutes. Then they began to calm down once I sat down. Sometimes I have a problem with urine retention. Not sure if I am dehydrated?????This is my story......Toni

I didn't understand.  Before you had the muscle jumping were you walking or running.  You said you usually run.????

I have the one-sided pitting, swelling of the lower leg, ankle and foot.  Mine is also mottled and purplish.  It the foot that I have a very painful couple of toes  and some mildly decreased sensation.  Mines on the right.  It started with tiny petchiea for a couple months, then a couple weeks of just the foot swelling and then one day it was the entire lower leg.  I was tested for DVT and it was negative, but two doc's said it looked like Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy which is usually a sever pain syndrome where the body loses control over the blood flow and sensation to the part.  It usually follows an injury, sometimes a VERY MINOR injury.  If that is what it is, mine is relativley painless, but it started with a severely, twice-stubbed toe.

I control it with decreasing my salt intake a little, more time elevated and it completely went down, but the color didn't improve, when I started supplements of Magnesium orotate and Taurine.  I'll tell you about them if you wish.

If you have weakened muscles and you suddenly exercise them they will often twitch majorly like you described.  What did you do that was new?
