I have clenched jaw almost 24/7 now..can't seem to relax it unless i consciously think about relaxing it....this is so tiring.  I must say that i have been stressed for  long times in the past.  Right now there is no obvious reason why.  But it is a definite pain in the ***

I already have bad teeth(missing and loose) probably from smoking and now they seem worse.

When i was working one of the surgeons had actually noticed it and asked me about the tense look on me.
Sometimes it hurts all the way down to collarbone area.

Nice to see I am not alone.

My husband wears a guard in his mouth at night to keep him from grinding his teeth.  The dentist made it for him for free.  He does this for his patients because insurance is so bad about paying for stuff like that, and he is a good guy!

I've also seen mouth guards for this purpose advertised for sale in stores.  I think you heat them up and then put them in your mouth and bite down so they form to your teeth/gums.  I have no clue about price.  You could try calling some drug stores.

I hope you find something that helps.  This sounds terrible.

Weird things, hmmm there are so many that i call weird, when i'm nice and relaxed laying in bed, curled up with my head in my hands (cant actually do this anymore lol) i would notice after awhile that my fingers would be digging into my cheek. The same thing happens with my legs too, i feel relaxed but the muscles or what ever are just constrincting tighter and tighter until i'm aware and move, i know if i dont do something i end up with cramps in my knees or feet.

For a while i had this thing with the muscles in my left cheek getting tight, it felt like i was grinning on one side of my face. It stopped for a while but now that i've got purple legs, i've noticed its starting to happen again, my left ear at the top has been stinging for a few weeks. Thought it was a mosi bite but nothing has ever shown up, it was driving me a tad batty and i asked my son to see if there was a bite, with all the social graces of the young he stated "well you do have more wrinkles on that ear." I dont think i could of laughted more ROFL.

I've got another one lol, i'd been getting woken up from this loud whoop whoop sound that i had at first attributed to my neibours partying, that was until it was pointed out that they were in their late 80's. It was stinking hot here and i then thought it could be someones airconditioner but when i heard it during the day, i got everyone to listen but it was only me that could hear it. I think its the blood pumping though my pulging viens, close to my ear drum and thats what i'm hearing. lol

Cheers......JJ

I do the same thing! That is, I feel like my jaw tightens on its own! The longer I work at a desk or something, the more my arm, shoulder, neck and jaw draw up. I'll conscious relax my jaw, massage it, even let my mouth hang open - nothing helps. The muscles seem to have a mind of their own!

I really don't think it's stress. When I was first told I have TMJ disorder, I believed it was stress - because I'd clench at night and that's done by a lot of people under stress (which I was). But so much stress in my life has been relieved - everything but the medical stuff is fairly easy, in fact - and still, my jaw tightens up. I really think the onset of the jaw stuff just coincidentally happened at a time I was under stress. Or maybe stress triggered physical symptoms.

I'm undiagnosed, though, so I don't know if this is common in MS or not.
