wilson's disease

Hi everyone! I have an off the wall question....can wilson's disease mimic ms or the other way around? I am currently being tested for ms and just found a biological brother who has wilson's. Just wondering if Maybe i'm at risk for that too....or if maybe the two can be related? I told you it was off the wall!! Thanks for your time

Wilson's disease is an inherited disorder so you should definitely mention to your doctor that your brother has been diagnosed with it.  I would think your PCP or family doctor can check your copper levels.  He might refer you out to a specialist for gene testing to either rule out or specifically diagnose Wilson's.

Since proper amounts of copper are essentail to nerve health Wilson's disease and MS certainly can share some common symptoms.

Dear Tasha822,
No, Multiple sclerosis has nothing to do genes. However, if your brother has wilson, maybe a gene check up would be a good idea.
