I have that too and I found out that it's tension and it's caused by lack of sleep or food, stress or poor posture. You can help it by drinking a ton of water, massage or over the counter meds. Long term you should diet high in Omega 3 rich foods
I am 42 man. Yesterday i happened to see visibly swollen vein on my left temple. I found on net it could be temporal artritis. But i want to know any other causes if any. I also have neck stiffness and shoulder pain for a week.I have been sleep deprived. Please answer.
Hey man. Did you ever find out what was wrong? Did it resolve itself? Im currently experiencing the same thing in my left temple and its freaking me out! Im 22 and have been dealing with anxiety for the last 2 months and the symptoms started 10 days ago
Hi!
Stress and anxiety can cause bulging vein in the forehead. Anything that increases the blood flow to the head area can cause a bulging vein. A bulging vein at the temple could be a normal finding—which may disappear with time. It could be due to increased blood pressure. Temporal arteritis is another possibility. Tension headaches too cause a bulging vein at the temple with headaches.
First of all get your blood pressure checked. If this is high, then this needs to be controlled. Tension headache is often diagnosed by the symptoms alone. Clots in the vein and deep vein thrombosis are another possibility. This can be diagnosed through color dopplar. Get your eyes examined for sight problems like far or near sightedness as this can also cause bulging veins and pressure. Since you have pressure/headache, keep a headache calendar, how the symptoms started, how they progressed, what medication you took and how and when they disappeared.
Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please consult your doctor regarding this. Hope this helps. Take care!
