4 AGONIZING YEARS

I have had mild to severe pain in my right flank for almost 4 years, in fact, the 4 year anniversary is approaching in April when the first CT Scan was done....3 more and still no diagnosis. In addition, my neuro has had a C and L Spine as well as brain MRI....he thought MS, but brain was fine as was C and L spine. Pain has gotten worse as of late, with sharp pains when I am sitting down and make a movement. Whats noticable is when I am driving and turn, when I turn, sharp pain in the right flank. Back is usually very sore by the end of the day. Neuro wants to do another brand and C spine MRI....Its quite depressing that no diagnosis can be made....what could be causing this? I've seen urologist, neurosurgeon and neurologist in addition to my PCP.........who's left to see?

I work in sales, but do spend a lot of time at a desk, the L Spine MRI read:

Mild spondylosis deformans throughout lumbar spine, particulary at L3-4

Annular disc bulge at L3-4 eccentric to the left, resulting in mildly asymmetric neural foraminal stenosis. There is borderline to mild lateral recess stenosis at this level

The CT Scan of Pelvis and Abdomen read

Congenital defromity of the lower lumbar spine, as well as unilateral pars defect at the L5 level. There is no evidence for spondylolisthesis

No mention of extra rib or rib problem, would that be seen in CT Scan or MRI? The pain associated with movement is somethign new, within the last month, the constant pain has been there for 4 years.

Thanks for the help

Hello.

Can you describe the type of work you do ? We have to see if it is occupational. And Since the pain increases in sitting position, I would go with either a pinched nerve or a lower rib problem. Some people have extra rib. Have all these things been ruled out already ?

Regards
