Abnormal MRI result....please help

I'm almost 36 years old and female.

Findings:

No restricted diffusion to suggest an infarct of other abnormality

Asymmetric prominence of the gyrus just inferior to the right side of the spenium of the corpus callosum on series 5 images 12, 11, and 10.  This could be enlargement on the right or atrophy on the left.  No focal mass or abnormal enhancement is demonstrated in this region.  Normal signal intensity of the gray and white matter on the right, possibly absent gray matter overlying the medial left gyrus on the series 6 image 11.

The rest of the brain is considered normal.   No demyelination or other significant abnormalities of the supratentorial or infratentorial brain.

Negative findings:  No hydrcephalus.  No extra-axial fluid collection.  Patent major arteries, veins, and venous sinuses.  No mass of the pineal, pituitary, cerebellopontine angles, or orbits.  No Chiari malformation.  Clear included paranasal sinuses.

Impression:  Asymmetric prominence of the gyrus anterior to the right occipital lobe inferior to the corpus callosum.  Consider referral to a neurologist.

I understand that the right side of my brain in this area is bigger than the left either do to enlargement on the right or atrophy on the left.  I've located where on the brain they are discussing.  What is the function of this area and what could this finding imply?  Is there some sort of a disease process that could explain this?

I've never had an MRI before (they were ruling out MS) so could I have been born with this abnormality?

I have been under more stress than ever this year.  I also have a panic/anxiety disorder that began about 2 years ago.

I noticed I lost my very close vision--I noticed it was blurry in April.  I had always had perfect vision.  Granted, I'm in denial I'm aging. :)

Then I developed migraines where I had about 5 and then they mysteriously went away.  I haven't had one since spring.

Then I noticed that I had random and alternating blurry vision in each eye independently.  I went to the optometrist who said I had an astigmatism (right worse than left) and that everything else checked out.  She said that astigmatism could cause one eye to go blurry as it tried to compensate for the other eye.  I probably noticed this in June and it is still ongoing.  She wrote me a mild prescription which I never did fill.  I guess because I've never needed glasses before, I'm reluctant.

Also, my period became irregular (I've never been irregular my entire life) with spotting occuring just before it was to start and then it would go away for up to a week and then I'd have a normal period.   This started in February or so and I've only had about 2 normal months.  I've been to a gyn, and everything is normal.  (bloodwork including thyroid and all hormones, PAP, uterine biopsy, etc.)

Then I noticed that I had numbness and tingling in my left arm.  Granted I was spending a lot more time on the computer and I had terrible posture with my left elbow up on the corner of the desk resting my head.  It's possible I injured my ulnar nerve.  Most of that has gone away.

I ended up in the ER one weekend for ear pain.  It honestly felt like it was in my brain, in the middle just slightly to the left for days and then it finally migrated down and I identified it as being in my ear.  Like a real deep ear infection.  My ears were clear.  I took leftover antibiotic I had on hand for awhile and it subsided after about 4 days.

I went back to my doctor.  He ordered the MRI to rule out MS.

Most of my stress has now been alleviated.  I still have the random and alternating eye vision problems.  The weird ear/brain pain came back as did the strange sensation in my left arm.  I've felt pressure behind my left eye and face, like filled sinuses and felt postnasal drip like I'm getting a cold that won't completely develop.   The new symptom I have had for several days is muscle twitching all over, but mostly in my lower extremeties and abdomen.  (I started taking Magnesium and eating 2 bananas a day, drinking Quinine water and it has improved),   I also have noticed a strange "sharp" sensation" on my fingertips of my right hand whenever I grip something.

I see the neurologist on Tuesday.

People will usually reply.  It just takes time.  We are very fortunate to have a retired doctor among us.  She is Quixotic1.  She often tries to help us out; but, she has so many requests by all of us and she suffers with MS, also.

Sometimes when we are born with something abnormal in our brain such as a CVA we are referred to neurologists for their input to make sure that there is nothing serious going on:  as our brain is part of the neurologists specialty.  Try to be patient.  We understand your anxiety.  I, myself, have not always been the best at keeping it under wraps.  The forum talked with me today.  Someone will answer within a few days, probably.  The weekends go kind of slow.

What symptoms or problems prompted your medical visit and the MRI?  The MRI does locate structural abnormalities that are silent (not known to be giving us problems).  I would try to keep reading.  If nothing else, it is good to have someone to correspond with while we anxiously await a possible diagnosis.  And, we learn from each other.  And just as importantly, we have a few characters that can really make us laugh and pick-up our spirits.  And THAT is some really good medicine, too...Keep it going on and LOL.

Type the words from your MRI in google, that was the only way I was able to find out about my Catscan.  You can find phots of MRI's also click on images then type in a search in Google.

No one replied to my questions about my tremor / EEG either. This forum's not much help but I don't know where else we can ask these things .

Sorry I can't help you, I wish I could because I understand your anxiety. I might have to have an MRI. did you feel claustrophobic? I don't think I could cope with that.

good luck anyway,
