First off, I have been combing these boards and they are immensely helpful. I was just diagnosed with BFS and can empathize with everyone who thinks they may have a serious neurological disorder. My situation is:
- Lost my father to ALS in 2008 (non-familial to the best of my knowledge)
- Spouse currently has breast cancer (caught early, and is/will be fine)
- Was running vigorously to alleviate stress.
- Started having fasiculations and involuntary muscle twitching while at rest, watching TV.
- Anxiety increased dramatically with memories of my beloved father withering away.
- EMG, Blood Work and Babinski etc.. came back normal
There are a lot of over lapping symptoms of BFS to ALS, Parkinsons, and MS. I compounded my anxiety surfing the net, and swearing I had ALS, Parkinsons or MS. Sites like WrongDiagnosis.com will drive you crazy. I just want to share my experience with others who may be in my position. Do not panic, an EMG and simple tests like the Babinski will set your mind at ease. Again, BFS symptoms are the same as a lot of more serious conditions.
