BRAIN TUMOR AND CYST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About six month ago I started to forget things, have a daily headache, and started to lose part of my side eyesight. I went to my doctor and he sent me for a MRI of my brain. When I got the results I was floored. It said, I had a walnut sized tumor along with a fluid cyst the size of a grapefruit. I had surgery to have them removed. A month after surgery I still have daily headaches and my side vision came back, but now I am seeing flashes and what look like pinwheels when I look at things. I also see this thing that looks like a giant eye. I am thinking clearly again, but these problems with my eyesight are starting to scare me. I talked to my eye surgeon to see if this will go away and he didn't have an answer for me. I can't stand seeing all these crazy things. I'm hoping it will go away over time. does anyone know if it will or ever heard of people seeing things like this after brain surgery ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Joe,
Well, I have read a couple books written by people who had brain surgery and what life was like for them afterwards.  You can have deficits like forgetting that do not go away, similar to what you had when you first got the MRI.  But this vision thing you have, I cannot recall that in the books, but you can read them yourself, one was written by a female physician, and they're both in the nonfiction section, the librarian can direct you.  

But what I wonder is if you've had followup scans to see what is going on in your brains since your operation.  I'm not talking about a scan right after the procedure, but like a six-month followup scan.  And they need to not only look at your optic nerve, but also the part of the brain that receives and evaluates vision information.  Could be either something was damaged during the surgery, or could be something was left behind or missed, or could be something new has developed.  I mean, you had this big tumor and huge cyst outta nowhere, so who knows what's going on in there now, so I think a new scan is definitely in order.

If you just had a scan, and all is well, then have the scan report and pictures forwarded over to another neuro for a second opinion.  Also, read those books I was telling you about, see what they say, and I think one of them provided a lot of links online for more info on your "side effects" from the tumor and op.

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

Sometimes these brain tumors or fluid filled cyst may remain asymptomatic for long years. But if it is large it can cause headache, vision problems, hormonal imbalance, paralysis, seizures and gait disorders. Therefore, surgical intervention is essential to remove the large adenomas and if permanent damage needs to be avoided. Craniotomy, needle aspiration and cerebral shunts are common surgical treatment that may help.  Please consult a neurologist right away in this regard. Hope this helps.

I have a son that is 15 they said they was doing testing to see if the doctor needed to send him to be tested for a brain tumor by doing a mri or a brain scan to see it then a couple of days ago they call me from where he is and tell me they felt it by rubbing his head so of I cant see it without a brain scan orvmri how can u feel it by rubbing someones head
