Bilateral Intraosseous Lipoma's of the calcaneus

Hello

I was diagnosed with bilateral intraossous lipomas of the calcaneous. I've had the left calcaneus done which entailed scraping out the entire heel bone, filling it with calcium phosphate and putting metal plate around to secure then sewed up. I will have to get the same operation done to the right calcaneus as well. The left heel as now got RSD and is extremely painful.

Any help on what I can do for it?

Have you heard of anyone else who has bilateral intraosseous lipoma's and what is the success rate of surgery??

A friend of mine got an MRI done today... showed a 1-inch lesion.  They suspect an intraosseous lipoma lesion at the anterior of clivus in the left IAC (Internal Auditory Canal?)... he will be getting an CAT scan for confirmation.  He has been getting dizzy on and off for the last 6 months and finally went to get a check-up.  EENT thought, it was a viral infection of the his inner ear.  (Olive leaf extract had helped him get rid of the dizziness, how did this help his vertigo?)

What is the prognosis and treatment for this, if the findings are correct?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Bilateral intraosseous lipoma is a benign tumor which is quite rare. The tumor is treated with endoscopically assisted curettage and then the bone void is filled with beta tricalcium phosphate. This surgery has shown good results. Please discuss this with your surgeon.
Take care!
