Scary visual disturbances appearing to get better. Possible?

29 y/o Male- active, healthy
A year ago I noticed an influx of floaters.  A month after that a small, round, ghostly, purple spot appeared in my right eye.  The spot lingered and could easily be accentuated depending on how light entered my eye.
Not too long after the spot started I saw bursts of pin-sized lights appearing randomly.
The final visual anomaly that occurred was, as the spot began to fade, as I walked from inside into the bright sun the area where the spot was fading was replaced with a 'crackling of lights.'  It almost looked identical to a 4th of July sparkler.
Eventually, all symptoms completely went away.
Today, after the last symptoms ceased (5 mos.) I am left with ONLY the following:
If I stare straight ahead- keeping my head completely stationary-and I cut my eyes as far as they will possibly go in either direction, I can see two very small TRANSPARENT little marbles in the corners of my eyes.  The marbles are kinda a blue-ish gray, and the left one has has a few little ripples lining a side of the circle from the 12 o'clock position to the 4 o'clock position.
I have seen two separate Ophthalmologists

Hi Brian.  I have some of the same problems you mentioned, and was diagnosed with optical neuritis.  I had an MRI and it came back normal, but the optical test ordered by my neurologist was positive for the neuritis, in both eyes, even though only my right eye is blurry.  I am trying to find out what is causing this and my Dr. told me its getting better so they don't need to treat it, but its not getting better, so I'm hoping to go to a neuro-opthamologist.  Ask for a test for this, maybe thats what it is.  My uncle, an ENT, said that he was impressed my Dr. tested me for it right away.  I guess most of them don't. Good luck!!

Glad the eye evaluations have been normal. Sorry to hear about your friend, but fortunately most diagnoses in neurology are NOT fatal. THis doesn't sound like the typical presentation of a brain tumor, if that helps in any way. But you should see a neurologist just to make sure everything is ok. Sometimes, migraines can present like this (visual aura) in the absence of a headache. Another possibility is that these could represent a certain type of seizure in the area of your brain that processes visual information. Finally, optic neuritis is a consideration. If indicated, an MRI may be helpful in making sure everything in your brain is ok and would be reassuring that nothing serious is being missed.Another alternative would be to see a neuro-ophthalmologist, but I would recommend a neurologist first. GOod luck.
