Body Cramping

Does anybody know of a doctor who specializes in body cramping.  I have experienced cramping in my entire body for a number of years.  It can be brought on by movement from one position to another, sneezing, laughing or simply doing nothing at all.  Sometimes it is only in the legs and other times, the rib cage (back and front) hands and toes and neck.  I have been to an endocrinologist, rheumatologist, neurologist and now, I am being sent to a kidney specialist.  I think they just don't know what else to do with me. I spent three hours in the emergency room the other day where they sent me home with Valium, telling me that it would relax my muscles.  It seems to work, however, I do not wish to live on Valium.

Hi, Thank you for your question. Usually, muscle or toe cramps are common in salt imbalance, circulatory problems, with certain medications, excessive cold temperature, whilst you are relaxed or resting, during or after exercise, or after sitting in an uncomfortable position. Most of the times, they are not related to any underlying disorder but needs checking out with a doctor to assess that your leg circulation and nerve supply are working appropriately. Meanwhile, I would suggest eat a diet rich in fruit and vegetables, vitamin E & zinc supplement, drink at least eight glasses of water in a day and avoid smoking. Hope this helps.

How do they assess circulation & nerve supply? I have these same symptoms.

HI...not knowing what these drs have done test wise...I have to ask if all ur vitamin and mineral levels were checked?...B12, D...Calcium, magnesium, potassium?....just for starters...

There r many other conditions that can cause cramping...have u been looked at for lymes, lupus, MS?
