C-1 Schwannoma

I (30 y/o) was just diagnosed with a small (5.5mm) nerve sheath tumor (schwannoma) on my C-1 nerve.  My neurosurgeon does not seem worried about this, but from what I gather they are not common at C-1.  He would simply like to redo the MRI in 6 months.  I am not being offered any treatment except 2 pain management visits.  I have neurological/motor/pain symptoms that, according to him, are not caused by this tumor.

Should I get a second opinion or just wait 6 months and put my faith in this doctor?  Thanks in advance!
