We are running into dead ends at hospitals. He is getting worse and worse. I'm reaching out for answers.
My father just turned 60 in December. I have a photograph of him with my son eating a piece of cake and smiling - looking totally normal. Now he is in the hospital. He barely moves, he mutters to himself, cannot care for himself.
So far he has been diagnosed with depression, possibly depressive psychosis, but he has been on meds for some time with no improvement. I'm concerned there's a bigger problem causing his decline.
He quit drinking in August, cold turkey without any kind of program. Afterward, Anxiety/Depression symptoms started and worsened, and now he is in a hospital bed, voice hardly audible, jerky movements. He sometimes says that he can't remember how to make his body do normal tasks, like taking a bite of food. He stops mid-movement and complains that he is "stuck."
Doctors are not helping us and he is getting worse and worse - though I would say not exactly steadily worse. One day he can lift his arms over his head, and the next day he can't, and then maybe he can the following day.
Anyone? Anything?
