Complex Partial Seizure clusters

I have been diagnosed with Complex Partial seizures after a stroke like event, abnormal EEG, and history of strange numbness and periods of extreme confusion.   AED's have improved the numbness somewhat, but I have had terrible side affects, worse then the numbness.   I have never had a gran-mal seizure that I know of however, I have passed out and fallen many times at concerts, carnivals and clubs with lots of lights.   When that happens, are those generalized seizures?   I also am told by my husband that at night I shake in a high speed vibration, but not violently. When he touches me I respond, but I dont' remember these happening.  I wake up confused and everything aches all over in the morining.  Is this some type of seizure?   Final question, Frequently I have "days of confusion" I am not myself at all during these times, and cannot give a start and stop time of any specific sensation.  While I am like this, I cannot comprehend what people are saying, cannot read, I write backwords and I cannot tell if time is going fast or slow, or remember hardly anything.     Could this be a cluster of seizures lasting for a few days    This usually happens around my menstrual cycle so my doc thinks its just severe PMS.  My neurologist has not been able to answer if these are seizures or not.

Hello.

Complex partial seizures (CPS) are called "complex" as they are associated with loss of consciousness. Now, these partial seizures can go on to become generalized, over a period of time.

I can't say if the falls during concerts and carnivals are generalized seizures. We need to have information from other who saw you falling. They should be able to tell if you have any body movements. These falls could just be syncopes, or CPS.

Your shaking in the bed does appear to be a generalized phenomenon. The seizure usually starts as a partial one, then spreads to be generalized seizure. The partner usually wakes up when you are having whole body movements. They generally miss the initial part of the seizure.

Menstruation is the time when the estrogen hormone is in excess. This hormone is known to increase the frequency and severity if seizures. You will benefit from progesterone during such times.

You should get a video EEG done.
