Decompression Therapy

I was recently in a car accident and was sent to have x-rays that found nothing, over a couple weeks I ended up in serious pain and my husband called a lawyer and they found me a Chiropractor/MD to look at my neck.  After an MRI they found C4-5 level had mild posterior broadbased spondylitic bulge with central canal stenosis. Then at C5-6 level disk narrowing and more prominent posterior broadbased spondylitic bulge small disk protrusion moderate central canal stenosis wiht out cord indentation.  some mild bilateral neural foraminal encroachment is noted. At C6-7 level mild posterior broadbased spondylitic bulge with mild central canal stenoisis.  Ok all this means Nothing to me except I have pain in my neck shoulders arms hands and at times even in my rump cheeks.  I am 41 years old.

This chiropractor has me on decompression therapy a couple times a week with adjustments.  Sometimes I walk out of that office feeling pretty ok other times I feel worse than I felt when I first started.  Is this kind of therapy good for what I have or is it just a waste of money?

I have had MRI's twice they also found disk bulges down in my lumbar area.  They did put me on a Steroid Pack and I didn't make it through the first day.  It caused Cardiac issues they made me stop taking them.  Funny I have used the steroids for years from time to time for lung infections.  Never had a problem  ***** getting old I guess.  I think we are at the point were we have to look into a Neuro doc to make a better call.  I get better and then just bending the wrong way or turning my head wrong sets off the symptoms again.  On top of that the second MRI found Ovary issues that have me freaked out making the muscles in my neck feel like the accident just happened all over again.

Thank You for all your help

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
I would also suggest you to wear a cervical collar. Make sure you always have good posture while sitting, do not bend your neck too much. You may also need oral anti-inflammatories for pain and inflammation.
Take care!

Well, I have a question...did u have an MRI of the brain?.....I have spinal stinosis and chiari malformation and was warned not to have a chiropracter.....I would suggest a neurosurgeon to determine exactly what is going on and suspend the chiro appoints. until u get the ok from the NS.

Good luck
Godspeed
