I had a microdiskectomy for a herniated disk in May of 2010. All healed well and had not long term effects. Last Friday (Christmas Eve) I was taken to the ER due to extreme back/leg nerve pain. After and MRI we discovered that yet again there was a ruptured disk at L4 L5. Same exact problem as last time. I was told in the spring that I had less than 5% chance of recurrence. Why me??
I am to call the surgeon tomorrow (Monday) as most everything has been closed due to the Christams holiday. Any advice of any kind would be appreciated.
I am currently on Prednisone and Percocet for pain, but both make me so queasy that I would rather be in pain than throwing up all the time.
Not sure what to expect. Another surgery? Is this something I'll have to deal with in my life from now on? I have four children, two of which are babies - one and two years old. I cannot be trapped in bed unable to move! I am grateful for all the help I have during these times, but again, I am hoping this is not a regular occurance for me.
