Dizziness - but not dizziness

Hi there. I have been feeling constantly dizzy for about 4 months now....well when I say dizzy its more a feeling of my brain floating in my head, a feeling of lightheadedness which sometimes makes me feel quite 'spaced out' and like im drunk/drugged (when I havent drunk alcohol or taken any drugs!). Sometimes my eyes feel like they are really fighting to focus, dont get me wrong my vision is fine, it just feels like everything is more of an effort. Sometimes the dizziness is not too bad, and sometimes it gets much worse but there doesnt seem to be any triggers to it and its always there.

I have had an MRI which came back normal. My Neurologist has now written me off and is referring me back to my doctor so as he can refer me to a Neurootologist.

I would like to know if anyone has had any similar symptoms and also suggestions of things it could be would be greatly appreciated.

Several years ago I was diagnosed with dry eye syndrome and have been using liquigel teardrops that mitigate the symptoms somewhat. Tends to be worse in morning and evening. It can be due to frequent computer use (not blinking enough), but I think this is part of story of all of these symptoms. Anyway, the drops provide some relief when my eyes are tearing constantly.

I have constant dizzieness, slight numbness and tingling in arms/legs and face. Eyes feel droopy...puffy...watery....akey... and bit blurred on and of. my vision feels fine it just feels like it takes me ages to focus on anything. im ok if im just looking at one thing but if i try and look at something else it feels like the room is dragging and slow till i re focus on something else...anyone else experience this?

another problem ive been getting with this is headake...chest pains and breathong difficulties. my head feels heavy and weird like if i hold it up i feel like im gonna be sick or pass out or something. which isnt to great. my doctor has been treating me for ear problems and migraines and focal migraines...my blood count is great im not aneimic nor pregnant. im not overwieght and i dont understand whats going on?

Ok, took the Bethahistine for a few days and about half an hour after taking each tablet I felt so much worse, so I have now stopped taking them and am going to phone the doc to tell her.

I am not sure I agree with them giving me random tablets to see if any make me better coz what if whatever they are giving me makes it worse long term? Surely giving me random tablets when they have no idea whats wrong with me isnt the way forward??

I have been to the doc again today and she is referring me to a top Neurology Hospital in London. She has also put me on Bethahistine and was concerned that the other doctors had not tried me on different tablets before to see if they help and she was really sympathetic to the fact that I hadnt driven since the symptoms started back in May, so I am feeling better that I have found a doc who is listening and who is going to refer me to a specialist hospital and is trying me on some drugs!!!! Yay!!!

Hi;

Migraine Associated Vertigo, MAV, need'nt be accompanied by head ache pain.
Maybe Google MAV + Hain and see what you think.
I'm glad your MRI was neg. as the sx often accompany acoustic neuroma, a most always benign brain tumor which affects hearing and balance.

I had very simillar dizzy headache couple years ago that lasted ~ 8 mo. MRI looked normal and still does later. One neurologist recommended no drugs, one recommeneded Prednisone, which in my case made 80% of it go away, and then after a few weeks I didn't notice it.  In my case, my symptoms were better in the morning and worsened over the evening. It is/was also accompanied by Hyperacusis (noises sound lounder than they are, even my own voice sounded too loud to myself).

Hi Nat79, I have been have similar symptoms for over six months now and been diagnosed with menieres virus which is a virul infection in the inner ear. I have good days and bad days. Do you have any noise in your ears? My doctor prescibed some anti histermin tablets which helped but made me feel even more drowsy so I dont take them anymore.

Another symptom which i havent had before, which started last night is that the room was spinning, really badly, like i was drunk and I felt a bit nauseous. I have the same today but its not as bad - does anyone else get this???

There doesnt seem to be anything which makes my lightheadedness better or worse, although being really tired makes it a bit worse.

Thanks for replying!
I get no pain, no nausea, no headaches, its really strange! My lightheadedness is constant, some days its better than others, some days it tires me out so much and I feel so fatigued that I have to go to bed really early.
I had an eye test not long ago but think I may book another one just to put my mind at rest that its not that and rule it out.
Let me know how your appointment next week goes!!!

I have the same symtoms, they have been off and on for the last 18 months. And i also had Ct Scan and Mri which came back normal. It's sometimes accompanied with headaches and nausea. I use to think it was a sleep problem but i started taking sleeping pills and get good sleep but the problem persists. I see a neurologist again next week. I'll keep you posted
