Doc prescribed motrin post ACDFw/plate

Hi I had C5-C6 ACDF (bone from bone bank) w/plate and screws on 1/28/08. I was prescribed Robaxin 750 for muscle spasms.  Upon my first follow up vist to my neurosurgeon on 2/7/08, he, at that time also prescribed 800mg Motrin 3x per day.  I have read EVERYWHERE on the web that NSAID's prevent fusion.  Will this happen to me?  I am a 43 yr old female and before this accident happened (6/20/07) that caused the injury, I was an extremely healthy individual.

Hi,  Thanks for the response. I didn't have much pain at all and I can't take narcotics so for what little post op pain I did have, I took extra strength tylenol. I don't have any pain at all now. Just some muscle tightness which my PT says is normal.  My question was about the Motrin.  I've heard everywhere that the NSAIDS will inhibit bone fusion.  I don't want that to happen.  Thanks

I had this done in 2005.  My doctor prescribed Vicodin which I only took for the first few days. The pain was bad.  I mean bad!!!  I had muscle spasms etc...I would just sit and shake it was so bad.   After that the pain wasn't too bad.  You really shouldn't be having this much pain at this point.  Like I said, I only took pain meds for a few days.
