I just had an updated MRI with Contrast the other day. Came back as follows:
No evidence of
1) acute infact
2) intercranial heamorage
3) mass effect
4) midline shift
5) hydrocephalus
6) no diffusion restriction
7) no evidence of high signal, atrophy or asymnettric temporal horn enlargement
8) no gray matter heterotopia
9) schizencephaly
10) midline structures are unremarkable
11) there is a well formed corpus callosum
12) no abnormal parenchymal or meengreal enhancement
13) the orbits are normal
14) paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are well aerated.
15) no evidence of hemorrhage, mass lesion or acute infarction
16) notmal appearing temporal horns
Does this mean everything is ok? The reason why I ask is because nowhere in the report does it say "normal exam".
The neurologist said that it is normal too
Maybe I am being overly worried
I have been having problems with busy patterns (oriental carpets etc), supermarket shelves with rows of stuff on and high contrast text on the computer screen (white on black). They seem to flicker a bit when looknig at them like its information overload. It resolves if I close either eye. I have visited Optomoterists, Opthalmologists and and a neurologist.
I had lots of eye tests, everything is normal. I had an MRI just before I started to have these symptoms( I suffer from migraines and wanted to rule out stuff).Came back clear. I just recently had an EEG (he thought it might be that I have had a seizure or stroke in the osccipital lobes which he ruled out) which came back normal. I asked him about tumours. Said no tumour. We even simulated the problem when I did the EEG. Came back completely normal.
The Neurologist said that there is nothing wrong with me and that I do not need another MRI as it will come back normal. He gave me Verapamil (for treatment of migraines) which have ironically subsided close to zero occurence, but does not hold out too much hope. I have been taking this for about 3 weeks now with not much luck. He siad that it might resolve on its own, but I dont know.
I am starting to think that it might just be a very slight astigmatism in my eyes, that the opthalmologist and optomoterists might have missed. It is just a bit frustrating when no one seems to know what it is.
the eeg meaures brain waves. and mri looks for anything ie tumors lesions etc. structure wise
It depends what they are looking for.
If say its for epilepsy, then The MRI can be normal as epilepsy can sometimes have no cause.
On the day of the eeg, if nothing happens ie no fit then it might be classed as normal but thats not to say its not epilepsy.
There are psychogenic seizures as well
hope this helps a bit. do you know what they are looking for? or what are your symptoms.
given the fact that I had an initial MRI done over 8 months ago which was normal.
The EEG was just completed recently.
thanks again!
