The blocked nose is causing some of the problems. Here is something which you can do yourself and get control of your body back. This will relax you fist, then help in opening up the the nostrils and then help in reducing the headache. Be patient and do it with concentration (eyes closed) everyday as suggested.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30 minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.
I have been taking amitryptiline now for a while.
I still wake up with sore eyes and with headaches. I have been diagnosed with grass allergy, I've been taking anti-allergy drugs and anti-allergy eye drops, but nothing changed, and I still feel influenza-like symptoms. Does this mean that it's not my allergy causing me this? or that the allergy drugs simply aren't working?
I have been to an orthopedist, he discovered the cause of my back pain, it seems to be a fatigue-fracture.
I'm however more concerned about my headaches and sore eyes, since I'm unable to function normally with such pain. I can keep up with a fracture, but having sore eyes and headaches everyday puts me KO.
I also still have mucus in my throat, and nose. My GP requested an X-ray of the sinuses, but everything seems O.K.
Right now I have headaches 6 days on 7. Sometimes 7 on 7. I wake up with it, then i usually have a dry mouth - so I drink some water and I get up. After an hour the headache is less intense, and then during the day it alternates, between "more painful periods" and "less painful periods".
I quitted smoking. I do not drink any alchools, I do not do drugs (however, i did in the past).
I would appreciate if somebody here could shred some light on this mistery, as it seems nobody yet understands what's wrong with me.
Thanks in advance.
Unless you are sleeping and/or working in an environment that makes you perspire profusely, I don't see any obvious connection to dehydration. Realize, of course, that I am a layman.

Dear Dr. Anurag and lawhem, thanks for your reply.
I have noticed one more symptom, which i think is dehydratation.
In the morning when I just wake up, the type of headache I have, and the way i feel, it is like if the day night before I got drunk. Very much hangover-like, if not the same.
Could most of my symptoms be caused be dehydratation? As I seem to sleep with my mouth open, and during the day I do the same, since I have problems breathing through my nose. I'm sorry for not mentioning this earlier, but I thought that it wasn't relevant.
Awaiting for your reply, thanks in advance.
Thank you again for your question. I am sure that your doctor has a valid reason for recommending this medicine and treatment. If this treatment doesn't help you, then you may go for a check up with another physician as well. Hope this helps.
I believe you need a second opinion and a consult with a neurologist. Tension headache is commonly diagnosed by reduction -- by eliminating other possibilities -- not by means of CT scan or other imagery. Your tiredness and dizziness are also not commonly seen as symptoms of tension headache. Amytriptylene is an antidepressant. While such drugs are used off-label in certain forms of face pain such as atypical trigeminal neuralgia, I don't see any clear application to tension headache prevention in sources such as RxList.Com. I don't think you've heard the full story, and I think you need better qualified advice.
Regards,
Dear Dr. Annurag, thanks for your help and interest.
I have already had an Head CT a month ago, and a neurologist had decided that I have a tension type of headaches.
I, however, do not know if such a thing can be seen just from a CT scan.. So for me it seems a bit strange that he concluded that I have tension-headaches without making any further investigations.
My GP has now started me on amitryptiline, 15 MG, 1 per day.
The visual problems are getting worse, now it's like whenever I'm reading or looking at things white bright colours such as white, I see those sort of yellow, small and round 'lights/flashes' which i do not know how to exactly describe. It's becoming really annoying, because everytime I'm reading something those yellow flashes are there as background, and i can't read properly without being confused.
As far as my research went, I understood, amitryptiline is not really a cure for such problems, however i also read that it does help to prevent headaches.
I wonder though, will I have to be always on amitryptiline to prevent the headaches? Or will it cure me. I guess that'll be my next question to my GP.
What do you think of the way that my doctors are handling this ? I'm a bit sceptic.
Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.
Usually for such persistent headache, possibilities like migrainous, cluster, tension, brain lesions, neurological disorders, pinched nerve (cervical) and refractive errors that need to be evaluated thoroughly with the help of a neurologist here. If all the investigation reports came back normal then possibility could be related to stress & anxiety. Tension headache originates with stress and anxiety disorder. Please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the further underlying disorders by clinically examine you & ordering MRI or CT scan here that may be the main reasons of your headache attacks. If your doctor diagnoses it as general anxiety disorder, counseling or psychotherapy, physiotherapy, treating related stress and avoidance of triggering factors by doing meditations/yoga can be helpful in recovering from the condition. Hope this information proves helpful to you. Take Care & Regards!!!
Has anybody evaluated you for either migraine, MS or Lupus? Some of your symptoms would be consistent with these disorders. Your Chiropractor can be of assistance for lower back pain, but by training he or she is not qualified to treat either your headaches or the other symptoms of a neurological origin.
Regards and best,
(i forgot to say that i feel a pulsating pain when i have the headaches, and that my head feels heavy. Also when I go a bit faster on the bike or go jogging, it seems to become worse.)
