I'm a 29 year old female. 235 pounds, 5'1. (Yes, I know, I'm overweight...it's due to PCOS and a med I'm on.) I live in Illinois. I'm on Abilify, Latanoprost, Qvar, Pantoprozole, Norethindrone, and I have a hormonal IUD in. I'm diagnosed as bipolar, autistic, generalized anxiety and borderline personality disorder. I also have PCOS, eosinophilic asthma, esophageal reflux, and borderline glaucoma. I'm a non-smoker. (Hopefully this is all the necessary info?)
The last half a year or longer, I've had an odd walk. I've seen many doctors about it, and have gotten nowhere. I'm posting here out of desperation. My walk is apparently the circumduction gait, from what I've been told. My right leg is unaffected, but my left leg swings out to the side, knee barely bends, and there's a toe drop/drag. Only slight weakness detected by doctors in that leg. I find my walk gets better on slopes, whether up or down, in water somewhat, and I have no trouble going up or down stairs. However, when walking down a normal sidewalk, for example, I trip a lot because of this walk. It's becoming incredibly difficult to go out and do anything at all. I'm also very slow and it takes a lot of effort to walk even across a large parking lot.
I have had numerous tests done so far. I've had a brain MRI and a spinal MRI. Both were totally normal. Currently I'm waiting for a Lyme blood test to come back (due to having a "summer flu" that involved a fever and stiff neck last year in early to mid June, and hive-like rashes for a month or so after that. Around that time, I had been in tall grass, not by choice, a lot.) I will also be scheduling an EMG/Nerve Conduction Study soon.
Other than that, I've been doing physical therapy, but have shown little to no improvement over these weeks.
This is getting incredibly frustrating and upsetting, and I'm worried we will never find a cause, and definitely not a fix. I've dealt with doctors mocking me, and being overall disbelieving and unprofessional, as my neurological exams are normal minus the walk.
Are there any other tests I should ask for, or any advice at all that anyone here can give me regarding my symptoms and what to do about them?
Thanks.
EDIT: Lyme test came back negative. Will be doing an EMG on Monday.
EDIT: I asked my psychiatrist, and he does not believe my symptoms to be medication related. If they are, I would have no choice but to remain on my meds, as I've tried all others before and only Abilify worked.
