Seeing a good rheumatologist should help you find the answers to your questions.  On my very first visit to a rheumatologist, he believed I had fibro, and the blood tests results ruled out every other kind of similar disorder.  Just keep looking for the best doctors you can find, and don't just settle for less.

Feel better soon.

They now know that people with fibromyalgia have pain to the touch in specific spots on their body...  this aides in diagnosis.  Your doctor can identify if you have problems in enough of these areas to warrant a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, especially since you've already had the CT's, etc.

Google the words "Fibromyalgia and tender points" and you should find a few web sites that talk about this in more detail.

God Bless!

Hi.

I'm also suffering from fibromyalgia.  This is a disease entity which is a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning that other organic and more common disease conditions should be ruled out first (such as spine problems or musculoskeletal problems) before making this diagnosis.

Fibromyalgia are somewhat correlated with our inability to have a REM sleep (rapid-eye-movement sleep) which makes us feel unenergized and tired even the first minute we wake up.  This lack of energy are somehow translated to somatic symptoms such as pain, and the presence of tender spots in the body.

Treatment is mainly supportive (pain medications, muscle relaxants, etc.) and may involve some form of anti-depressant therapy.

Regards.
