Forgot

I went bowling today and after a few sets I forgot my form. I kept trying to remember how I approached the line and how I was swinging before, even what foot I put forth first but I couldn't do it. I kept messing up my form.

This is not the first time that this has happened. There was another time that I was doing something physically active and after a while of repeating the motion I forgot how to do what I was doing. Though I had been doing the same motion repeatedly, I forgot after the seventh, or something like that, time and just kept messing up afterward.

It almost feels like I never learned how to do it in the first place, my mind sort of goes blank and I can't get my body to function properly again.

What is this?

I don't get confused between left and right, but learning dance routines is a problem for me. And I think you're right about over analyzing.  I'll look up cross dominance and see if there are other things I fall under or that seem like characteristics I have. Thank you so much for responding!

I sort of have the same issues when I truly stop to think about the physical actions that I am making.  If I try to analyze, I'm toast.

I've learned that I have really bad left/right confusion.  An instructor in college determined that even though I'm right handed, I have a dominant left eye.    Learning dance routines for classes as a kid was so hard for me.  I think bowling form is comparable to a dance routine:)  Even today, I am the worst person to give you directions while driving.  The driver needs to look at my hand when I say "turn that way!" because I mix up left and right 50% of the time if I have to think in those terms.

Do you ever get confused with left and right like I do?  Do you have cross-dominance?  If you do, that might be part of the problem.
