Full body numbness won't go away!

Hi, about a month ago I dislocated my right shoulder and had to have it put back into place and have had to keep it fully imobilized which gave me back problems, and have been seeing a chiropractor ever since.  And on thursday (June 3rd, today is June 5) I recieved a normal adjustment/manipulation which required a little more pressure than usual in my tail bone area.  I left and felt fine as usual, nothing had changed, I felt fine.  Then on friday (June 4th) around 1-2 in the afternoon, during my 4th hour class period, I lost pain in my right shoulder (the one i dislocated).  I began to fell my shoulder with my opposite hand and had no feeling in the shoulder, upper back, lower neck, whole right arm area.  There was no tingly sensation involved, just complete numbness as if under anesthesia but fully functioning with full mobility other than the limitations due to the shoulder dislocation.  From then on the whole right side of my body within about 15 or so minutes became completely numb, again with no tingling sensation, just no feeling, a complete loss of all feeling everywhere except the tips of my fingers.  At this point I was in my next class period contacting my chirpractor and parents to see what should be done next and within about 15 more minutes lost feeling in my left side as well with the exception of my finger tips which still had some ability to feel.  I was picked up from school and taken to my U of M family doctor who was able to see me immeadiately and whom decided I be sent to the hospital immediately.  In addition on the way to the doctors, I became very scared because I have never experienced a feeling like this before, and I have a very high tolerance for pain, and the lack of pain scared me more than just about anything I've ever experienced before.  As I became more fearful of the unknown, it became more difficult to control myself and maintain neutraility and I began crying which caused me to become more upset with the fact that I couldnt feel even my own tears and recieved a quick tingling sensation in my nasal/nose area and all throughout my legs which was then complimented by an extreme wave of heat along with the loss of feeling.  After I was finally able to calm myself down the tingling as well as the heat disappeared almost immediately.  At the hospital it was determined that the spinal manipulation carried out by my chiropractor would have had no impact on the symptoms I was experiencing.  They checked my enzyme levels, glucose levels, drug levels, and all came back fine, no abnormalities, no drugs other than my prescribed vyvanse and adderall which I have been on for about 3 months now and was determined also were not a factor.  I though I was beggining to have feeling again in my legs and since I was still breathing perfectly fine and able to function the hospital sent me home.  I never actually reached a normal state of feeling and upon my return home realized that my back and arms were still completely numb.  As I woke up this morning, I felt as though this numbness was still leaving but after attempting to feel myself and in touching my back and shoulder, face and legs, still have no feeling other than that of my hands.  I really need help because no one knows what is going on with me and I can't stand not being able to feel.  I know when I have to go to the bathroom however I cannot actually feel myself going to the bathroom.  I am also able to sense some form of termperature such as when I sit on the toilet i can sort of 'feel' the decresed temperature of the seat but I cannot actually feel the seat.  Is this permanant? Is this nerve damage? Will it get worse? When will I know if i should seek immediate medical help? I'm only 17 and have no idea what is going on other than the fact that yesturday morning I was perfectly fine and today I have no feeling throughout my body... please help!

The herb Gotu Kola increases blood flow to the brain and other organs. I had numbness on my head for weeks and the 2 days I took Gotu Kola made it disappear. Google Gotu Kola benefits and it will amaze you.

Hi, Thank you for your question. Full body numbness could be due to injury to a nerve, pressure on spinal or peripheral nerves (neuropathy), vitamin deficiency, lack of blood supply due to cholesterol plaque from atherosclerosis in the extremities, viral infection and use of certain medications.  In addition, atherosclerosis can also cause pain, numbness, and tingling while walking and they can also reduce blood supply and lead to numbness. Please consult your doctor to get all these possibilities evaluation in your case for further assessment. Hope this helps.
