Head and neck ache for weeks with pressure.

I am a 29 year old male. I have been having headaches and neck pain along with pressure around my temples. I have had high blood pressure 153/102 when i went for an physical for a job when this first started around 4 and 1/2 weeks ago. This is not normal for me the highest i had ever had was 132/84 and a week before that was 120/80. My doctor put me on lisonopril hztz 10. 12.5 . This has controlled my blood pressure but the headache and neck pain with pressure has not gone away. MY right eye hurts sometime when i am trying to get to sleep. When i lay down the pressure in my head seems to get worse. It seems that the base of my skull at the two points in the back is where most of the headaches occur. I am starting a new job that is going to require a lot of physical use of my body along with rigorous workouts such as weight lifting, running and push ups. I cannot start this job feeling like this and it is my dream job. Please help I just want to bee healthy again. I don't smoke drink and weigh about 195 pounds and my height is 5.11. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
It is quite possible that your symptoms due to high BP. I would suggest you to restrict salt completely and take diet low in calories and fat.
Also continue with your BP medication as prescribed. The pain in the right eye can be due to sinusitis because sinusitis is a well known cause of pain behind the eyes. It seems you have some neck issues as well. I would suggest you to make sure you have a good posture, do not bend too much, avoid heavy lifting for few days, use ice packs and do some gentle neck exercises.
Hopefully your symptoms will improve. If they don’t you may need to undergo clinical evaluation. Take care!
