Head jerks & pulls when laying down

I have what appears to be Cervical Dystonia or Spasmodic Torticollus, which appears to be  the same thing, my question is:
My head/neck spasms, jerks, and moves, when I lay my head down. I can't even lay back in the recliner, without this bothering me This causes extreme distress, every night, when it is time to go to bed, I dread it, and the only way I can get to sleep is to take enough very strong meds, to knock me out, and even then, I still have to wrestle with this at least 30 min. before I can get to sleep even on the meds.I roll & toss trying to find some kind of comfort.

. I have been to my dr. three times, to the ER  4 times, chiropractor 6 times, one of the ER drs. sent me to an accupuncture dr., I went 3 times, and it made it much worse. I am now on an herbal routine. This condition is driving me nuts, what can you tell me about it? Also, I have not seen anything online about the head shaking, or tremors when laying down. Is this part of the CD or is it something different? I am trying to get an MRI on my neck and head, (as I think I had a stroke last year & I would like to know for sure) I would appreciate any help that you can give, as I have no insurance. Thank you.

I am very greatful for your advice, and I had def. considered the Botox treatments, provided I can work out something on the payment for them, as I have heard they run around 300.00 each, and must be repeated pretty often. Also, the side effects listed are scary, are you currently taking them, and if so, have you experienced any side effects?

This must be very hard for you, in the carrying out of your practice?

i AM A DOCTOR RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH CERVICAL DYSTONIA MYSELF-head jerks to  back and left side then tremors, occurs mainly when sitting upright with head unsupported but not when lying down,  but also getting loss of balance and odd  visible muscle twitching through body. I would suggest you see neurologist and ask about botox injections into the muscles if you have not already done. Botox has helped my dystonia but not sorted out other symptoms i'm getting which are still being investigated.I wonder if the ? stroke you had last year has caused dysfunction in the basal ganglia p art of brain giving you dystonia symptoms. mri won't show that however but  still advisable to check in case you have had definite stroke with cerebral changes
