Hi, please consult doctor and get him investigated, this could benign intracranial hypertension, raised intracranial pressure, migraine etc.
Usually fundoscopy (eye examination to see fundus) is done to see effect of raised intracranial tension on eye and MRI brain is done to find out any lesion in brain, which is normal as per your post. Lumbar puncture is also done to rule out raised intracranial tension.
Hi there. Sorry to hear about your daughter. It's a bit scary isn't it, for her and for you!
My hubby had a full check up... blood tests, blood pressure, and a brain scan. There was nothing wrong in the brain scan thankfully. His blood pressure was high and he has high cholesterol, but who knows if they have any relevance. The doctor has said it is *probably* a form of migraine, though there was no specific evidence, more a lack of anything else showing up.
The doctor was worried that it could be a minor stroke or prestroke, but luckily this was not the case, as this would have shown up in the brain scan. I had worried it might be a tumour, as his brother had been diagnosed with a brain tumour (tiny and thought to be benign fortunately) just a few weeks before... but once again, that would have shown on the scan. So the real nasties have hopefully been eliminated in his case.
He has had no more of them since luckily. He also has no history of migraines and hardly ever gets headaches at all.
I would certainly recommend getting it well looked into... hopefully it is *just* a migraine, but these kind of disturbances are better checked out... in case... I hope your daughter doesn't experience any more, and that they can work out what is wrong, if it is something that needs attention.
Hi Crystal,
My teen had something similar at the beach today; she reports blurred peripheral vision in one eye shortly prior to the headache and nausia that had her crying after the drive home. She has seafood allergies, so we are thinking about the ocean, but really have no idea. She was fine within an hour of getting home. We're thinking migrane, motion sickness, allergies, or some odd combination of the above. I'll ask the pediatrician and the eye guy, but I'm not expecting an answer. Let us know if you find one, and I'll bookmark this and do the same.
