Heel pain at night

I have had a heel spur on the back of my foot for years. Doesn't bother me after I  get up and walk around in the morning have had this for three years now. Now for the last month or so it wakes me up every morning between 3 and 5 with shooting pain and I can't sleep so I have to get up and walk it out then I go back to sleep and when I get up I walk it out. I am fine most the rest of the day on less I set for a while then I have to walk it out again. I have gotten use to this but can sleep at night for the pain that wakes me up. Dose any one know why this all of the sudden started hurting at night like this I have a very restless night for the pain always happens for weeks now?
