Help with X-Ray

I have been in sevre neck pain on and off for several years. I'm not sure if I should post here or in another section, so I'm posting in two places. My most recent attack left me unable to move my neck in any direction.  My primary care doctor ordered a Cervical Spine X-Ray. The report states that thee AP projection shows dextoscoliosis, and the lateral projection shows reversed lordosis.  It also states that there is degenerative disc findings with reactive endplate spurs at c4-c5 and c5-c6. What does all this mean?Should I be pushing him to send me to a specialist for further evaluation.  Thanks for you help.

Did you mean a regular x-ray or MRI?
I don't think they can intepret x-rays that definitively as you have noted in the evaluation.

That said you should get a referral to see a spinal/back surgeon.
And make sure you bring the films of the MRI (after you have one if not already) to he/she , not just the radiologists interpretation.

Good luck

What you require is an MRI  (not a CAT scan). A x-ray evaluation does not meet the "standard of care" circa 2007. Without an MRI is is impossible to prescribe a course of treatment. Well, not impossible, but not the best idea. Some primary care physicians are very good at many things, Other's not so good. A "specialists" opinion is always valyable because they get to see a large number of patients with the same problems. What you do a lot of you get better at.
